Bridal Showers Bring Wedding Flowers

Spring is a beautiful time to host a bridal shower. Flowers are in bloom and brides are getting ready for their big day. We cohosted a bridal shower for our good friend, Michaella. The bride wanted an intimate brunch with her family and close friends. Because the shower took place in April, we thought a Spring theme would be very fitting.

Red, White and Barbecue!

Many of us kick off summer by grilling burgers, hot dogs and corn on Memorial Day. We wanted to add a bit of fun to this year's menu with CUPCAKE burgers and POUND CAKE fries. With just a little bit of effort and a lot of creativity, we transformed ordinary cupcakes, brownies and pound cake into a spectacular dessert! We brought these adorable treats to a barbecue, hosted by our older sister, and we were excited to assemble them with our nephew, Dylan.

"Dangling A Carrot" Cake

This week I wanted to share a new addition to Baked By Archana's collection of recipes- a scrumptious carrot cake! Like most young adults and children, I was obsessed with chocolate and vanilla flavors for cakes, cupcakes and frosting. It was only after I took a baking class at the Institute of Culinary Education that I discovered that I prefer complex flavors that blend salty, sweet and sometimes even savory in my desserts.

Macaron Madness!

What better way to celebrate Mother's Day than with MACARONS! Macarons are delicate, airy and melt in your mouth. Traditional fillings are buttercream, jam and chocolate ganache. One little bite transports you to a quaint Parisian cafe. This was my first time making these delightful French confections. My mom, aunt and sisters LOVED these sandwich cookies and so did I!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Pop Quiz: What is the significance of Cinco de Mayo? If you thought it was the day of Mexico's independence, you are mistaken (that falls on September 16th)! Cinco de Mayo celebrates Mexico's victory over France during the Franco-Mexican War. While it is a minor holiday in Mexico, it is a bigger deal in the US as we celebrate the culture and heritage of the Mexican people (and Mexico's victory). We celebrated this Cinco de Mayo at Sinigual.

Going Green!

Have you ever wondered what St. Paddy's Day would look like in August? Well that's exactly what our 33rd birthday looked like (excluding the leprechauns)! Color is a simple, yet creative way to make a party more special for you and your guests. P. Diddy (or whatever he calls himself these days) was infamous for his white parties. We see a lot of pink and blue at baby showers and children's parties. Green, however, seems to be worn in large groups only on March 17th. We wanted to change that!
