Burns Night!

This week I wanted to tell you about my second dining experience with Dinner Lab. The theme of this supper club was BURNS NIGHT! Since 1801, Burns Night has been celebrated in Scotland and across the world to commemorate the life and poetry of Robert Burns on or around January 25. Dinner Lab partnered with Chef Patrick McCandles and Laphroaig®, a Scottish whisky, to pay homage to the poet with a truly memorable dining experience. Guests enjoyed a modern take on Burns Night and lots of scotch and singing. Sláinte!

Pizza Pizza

One of my favorite aunts turned 65 last week. I wanted to do something extra special for her: I made homemade marinara pizza followed by a s'more dessert pizza. Trust me, they were both delicious. Special thanks to my little 2 year old sou-chef, Keira, for all of her help.

A Night In Disguise

Turning 40 is a BIG deal! For our sister Shruthi's 40th, we wanted to plan an extra special party to welcome her into the new decade. She requested a SIMPLE but ELEGANT theme. After several weeks of brainstorming, we decided on a MASQUERADE BALL. Historically, masquerade balls were extravagant gala events hosted by European aristocrats and royalty. Who wouldn't want to feel like royalty at their birthday party?

Clockwork Cranberry Orange Cupcakes

This week, I am sharing the recipe for my SCRUMPTIOUS cranberry orange cupcakes from the Rave in the New Year party. I highly recommend baking with fresh, SEASONAL ingredients. Cranberries are harvested in September/October and available fresh through December. While oranges are available year round, many varieties are best in the winter. These moist cupcakes are infused with orange zest, triple sec and fresh cranberries. The cupcake perfectly combines the TARTNESS of cranberries with the tangy SWEETNESS of oranges. I topped each cupcake with Toba Garrett's buttercream frosting, which I spiked with Triple Sec.

RAVE Into The New Year

New Year's Eve in New York City can be mayhem. We prefer an intimate evening on NYE with our closest friends. This year, we cohosted a memorable rave with our friends, Harlan and Morgan, to properly bid adieu to 2015 and welcome in 2016. Raves originally referred to underground bohemian parties in London in the late 1950s but today they are largely about electronic music and dancing! It was an excellent way to ring in the new year and we are excited to share the details with you!
