Mint Julep

Run For The Roses
  • 1 oz Mint Syrup
  • 1.5 oz Maker's Mark (or bourbon)
  • 1 Sprig of fresh mint
  1. Fill a collins glass or silver mint julep cup with crushed ice
  2. Add the mint syrup and bourbon
  3. Stir briskly
  4. Garnish with a mint spring and straw and serve
  5. Serves 1
Mint Syrup
  • 1/4 cup Turbinado sugar
  • 3/4 cup Water
  • 1 cup Chopped fresh mint
  1. In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the sugar and water to a boil, stirring until the sugar is dissolved
  2. Remove from the heat and add the mint
  3. Cover and let stand for 3-5 hours
  4. Strain into a jar and refrigerate until needed
  5. Makes 1 cup
