Hoppy Easter everyone! We hope your Easter weekend was as fun as ours! We celebrated the holiday with our family in New Jersey.
On Saturday, we visited our sister’s country club for Easter celebrations. We kicked off the festivities with an Easter Egg hunt. After the hunt, we visited the Easter Bunny and feasted on a fabulous brunch. We enjoyed waffles, scrambled eggs, quinoa salad and beet salad. The club’s balloon artist created unicorn and jet blaster balloons for Dylan and Keira. It was a fun way to start the holiday weekend.
Easter Sunday began with opening presents from the Easter Bunny.
We created our chic tablescape with William’s Sonoma’s pink floral linens and complementary floral dinner plates. Inga from International Garden created our gorgeous bouquet with pink lilies, fuchsia daisies and white ranunculus. We assigned seats using Williams Sonoma’s adorable Easter Egg placecard holders, which served as additional table decor.
This year’s Easter menu featured a slow roasted leg of lamb, grilled venison, asparagus and brussels sprouts.
Great dishes should be paired with great wines. Lamb is a rich and flavorful meat that pairs well with Cabernet Sauvignon. The deep, intense fruit flavor and firm tannin structure of Cabernet complements the richness and texture of lamb. Cornerstone Cellars, based in Napa Valley, produces some of the finest Cabernet in the world.
We served two varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon:
2015 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Benchlands
2015 Calistoga Cabernet Sauvignon
We focused on tasting the subtle differences between the two wines. Some family members preferred the Benchlands, while others raved about the Calistoga. The full-bodied Benchlands Cab features notes of black fruit with a touch of vanilla. The Calistoga Cab is also full-bodied wine but features layers of black fruit, cedar and plum. You can also taste hints of vanilla and black licorice interwoven with layers ripe fruit and silky tannins.
Our kids’ table was just as chic as our main table.
For dessert, we sampled bunny cookies, key lime pie, assorted cupcakes and fruit sushi.
Special thanks to Brian and Alex for preparing a fabulous meal.
