Happy Fourth of July everyone. On July 4th, Montclair rolls out the red (white and blue) carpet and hosts a parade featuring antique cars, live entertainment and lots of stellar performances. We are excited to share our holiday with you.
We woke up early and laid out a blanket and lawn chairs. You’ll want to arrive at least 30 minutes early to claim a prime spot. Of course, remember to bring lots of flags for the kiddos to play with.
Keira loved her red, white and blue floral crown. She loves to dress up for the holidays.
The 2019 parade featured some newcomers as well as historical favorites. We saw the Montclair Community Band, Boys and Girl Scouts of America, Uncle Sam on Stilts, giant bubbles, fire engines, antique cars, and more.
Up first on the red, white and blue carpet were antique cars. Dylan and Keira were very excited to see their friends John and Alister in an antique 1950s red car.
Children on the hayride tossed candy to Dylan and Keira on the sidewalk.
The Cub Scouts Proudly walked the parade.
Some of the live performances included the Saint Columcille United Gaelic, an Ireland Pipe Band.
After the parade is a fun Family Picnic in Edgemont Park and a fireworks display in the evening at Yogi Berra Stadium at Montclair State University. It was pretty hot so we skipped the picnic and headed home and watched the fireworks after dinner.
