Ahoy matey, we sail-a-brated the end of summer with a nautical dinner party filled with sun, sand and sunshine. We incorporated bold colors and crisp lines as well as beach decorations to transform our dining room into a sailing inspired escapade. Get your sea legs ready because we are excited to share our end of summer party with you.
Theme parties are a quick way to transform a traditional party into a chic affair. Our Twin Sail-a-bration and Beach Rehearsal Dinner Parties twinspired our seated nautical dinner party. We created our whimsical tablescape with navy and white striped table linens. We scattered sea shells and starfish over the table runner. We framed the dining table with end of summer silver balloons. Since our party took place outdoors, we also incorporated sea shell candles. These candles doubled as decor and lighting as the evening progressed.
We placed red plates, stemless wine glasses, starfish napkin rings and crab place card holders at each place setting. We recommend having fun with the table decor – think sailboats, anchors, ropes and/or life savers. When dining outdoors, use mason jars or a silverware caddy to hold utensils rather than placing them directly on the table.
We placed a Beatriz Ball sterling silver ice bucket in the middle of the table to chill the wine. We served a mix of Gloria Ferrer sparkling and still wine.
We recommend pre pouring wine so that guests have a welcome drink as soon as they come ashore.
We created a nautical cheese board with Brie, Pepperjack and Goat Cheese. We used a star cookie cutter to cut out star shaped cheeses to add some whimsy to our cheese plate. Always place your cheeses first, then add crackers and breads. Lastly, fill with dried fruit.
Our main was a scrumptious Lobster Roll from Luke’s Lobster. Luke’s Lobster opened its doors in the East Village in 2009 and now brings traceable, sustainable seafood to diners across the country.
We paired the Lobster Rolls with Cape Cod chips.
For dessert, we served Petit Pot’s French Pudding. This sweet, creamy pudding is common in France, but relatively unknown in the U.S. This gluten free, organic and Kosher dessert is delicious and the perfect way to conclude a meal. We tried the variety pack with Dark Chocolate, Madagascar Vanilla, Salted Caramel and Lemon Curd Pots de Creme as well as Madagascar Vanilla, Coconut and Mango Passion Fruit Rice Pudding. Our favorite was the Dark Chocolate.
Dressing up is also a big part of a nautical party Navy is an easy choice. Anything with stripes should also fit the bill.
So let’s raise a glass and bid adieu to Summer and hello Fall!
