Merry Craftmas! This December, we are using our Cricut to amp up our holiday crafting. In the past, we dreaded the hours spent hand cutting photo booth props, food tents, favor tags or projects with complex designs. Today, we introduce you to our unofficial Twintern – the Cricut Explore Air 2. If you are considering adding Cricut to your Santa’s List, then you have come to the right place. We are excited to share the top 5 things we love about our Cricut Explore Air 2 with you.
Cricut is a machine that cuts, writes and scores popular craft materials. If you ever tried to print photobooth props, then you know the challenge of precisely cutting complex shapes with a pair of scissors. If you haven’t, then consider youself lucky!

Our 6-year old niece, Keira, is an arts and crafts virtuoso. She asked us to bring the Cricut to her house so that we could work on a holiday project together. Cricut Design Space features Ready-to-Make projects created by professional artists. We reviewed the Christmas projects with Keira and she settled on a Santa themed gift tag. We are excited to share this holiday project with you.
For this project you’ll need:
- Cardstock – Tan, Skintone, Dark Red, Pink and Black
- Vinyl, Red and Green
- StandardGrip and LightGrip Machine Mats
- Transfer Tape
- Cricut Tools (Weeder, Scraper)
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Distress Ink
- Twine
- Cotton

So why do we love the Cricut Explore Air 2?
- Portable
- Gets Kids off the Screen
- Desktop and Mobile Integration
- Wireless
- Precision cutting
1.) Portable. Crafting is more fun with family and friends. We placed our lightweight Cricut in the Cricut Machine Tote and our crafting materials in the Rolling Craft Tote. The Cricut Machine Tote neatly stacks on top of the Rolling Craft Tote. We rolled our Tote from New York City to New Jersey on the train. The wheels are sturdy and it was easy to travel with the Cricut. The Rolling Craft Tote also doubles as crafting storage.

2.) Gets Kids off the Screen. Keira is an avid crafter. She used the scraper to secure the cardstock and vinyl to the mat. She pressed the buttons on the machine to load and unload the mat and start the cutting. She also used the Cricut tools to remove the materials from the mat. If your children spend too much time watching TV or playing with an iPad, then consider crafting with Cricut as a fun, family activity.

3.) Desktop and Mobile Integration. During our project, we used Cricut Design Space on the desktop and mobile apps. You can start on one device, and then finish on another. When you are shopping for supplies, you can also refer to the Cricut Design Space mobile app on the go.

4.) Wireless. The Cricut Explore Air 2 connects to laptops and mobile devices through bluetooth technology. We don’t have a crafting room or home office so this wireless feature lets us be nimble. We don’t have to be physically connected to the Cricut during the crafting process.

5.) Precision Cutting. This is the feature we love the most. We are perfectionists and it’s impossible to precision cut by hand. With our Cricut Explore Air 2, we can focus on custom designs or existing projects and let the machine handle the precision cuts for us.

Once all the pieces are cut, it’s time to grab the craft glue. Layer and glue the pieces in the same order they were cut. Then apply the vinyl text. The final step is to glue the cotton beard and hat.

Grab your Cricut, believe in your elf and let’s make it REIN!
It’s never to early to start crafting for Christmas.
