Much ado about stuffing. The holidays are different this year. We had initially planned on celebrating Thanksgiving through Christmas in Deer Valley with our family. Unfortunately, we had to postpone our trip. Our parents weren’t in town either. We partnered with The Food Crate, Monis Cellars and Flora Springs for an unbelievable last minute small Thanksgiving. We are excited to share our tips on how to celebrate Thanksgiving during Covid-19.
How to Style a Thanksgiving Tablescape During Covid-19?
Covid-19 made our Thanksgiving party smaller than usual, but we still made our tablescape look gorgeous. Our Thanksgiving tablescape featured shades of marigold, metallic gold, pearl white and vibrant greens. We decorated our table with and gold crystal candle holders.
Each Thanksgiving place setting consisted of a gold trimmed charger plate, a and a.
Rose to the occasion. We placed two bouquets of yellow roses, white alstroemeria, white berries and baby’s breath beside the candles. The flowers matched our linens perfectly.
What is The Food Crate?
Gobble, gobble til you wobble, wobble. Cooking an entire last minute Thanksgiving meal can be quite daunting. That’s when The Food Crate comes in handy. The Food Crate delivers expertly crafted, restaurant quality ingredients, delivered ready to cook in your kitchen for gatherings, dinner parties or everyday meals. The first step is to select your crate. We selected the Thanksgiving Crate (it’s no longer available, but you can get the Holiday Ham Gift Crate). The Food Crate allowed us to celebrate Thanksgiving during Covid-19 with delicious dishes that were easy to prepare.
The insulated crates have ice to keep the contents in a safe temperature zone for a 3 day shipment. We refrigerated our crate on delivery. The items arrive pre-cooked or raw in vacuum seal packaging. Each dish includes instructions on the packaging. If you accidentally throw the packaging out before reading it, you can email them or DM them on Instagram (we definitely did this). You can select a crate or build your own to celebrate Thanksgiving during Covid-19 with all the holiday essentials. You can add additional items to predesigned crates.
Talk turkey to me. Our 10 pound turkey was pre-seasoned and all we had to do was pop it in the oven and cook it for about 3 hours. This turkey alone saved us so much time. We spent less time cooking and washing dishes and more time with our guests. Talk about a great hack for how to celebrate Thanksgiving during Covid-19.
Gobble me, swallow me, drip gravy all down the side of me. How beautiful is this bird? Our first time time cooking and carving a turkey was a success. Make sure to have a thermometer to make sure the middle is 165F before taking the turkey out of the oven.
Side chick. Our Thanksgiving sides included stuffing, potato gratin, creamed spinach, sweet potatoes, mushroom ricotta and cranberry sauce. Our favorite was the creamy, earthy mushroom ricotta. It was a nice new addition to our Thanksgiving sides.
What Wine to Serve at Thanksgiving During Covid-19?
Let’s get fizzical. Food tastes better with wine that helps bring out the flavors. We started with Mumm Napa Brut Prestige.
Mumm Napa makes this sparking wine in the champagne method. The wine features fine bright citrus, red apple, stone fruit and creamy vanilla aromas.
You are so bottleful to me. We decorated the wines from Monis Cellars with turkey and pumpkin wine toppers. We originally tried these Santa Barbara wines at our End of Summer Party earlier this year.
At Thanksgiving, we sampled the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet. 2019 Chardonnay features rich tropical aromas and a lasting creamy finish. The 2019 Pinot Noir has notes of bright red fruit, naturally bright acidity and good structure as well as aromas of dried cherries and a hint of dark chocolate.
The 2018 Syrah Santa Barbara Syrah is smooth with layers of dark fruits and hints of peppers.
We concluded our wine tasting with 2016 Flora Springs Give Thanks Merlot. We recently partnered with Flora Springs on a Dia de los Muertos dinner party. Flora Springs is a family owned Napa Valley winery and they design a whimsical collection of Halloween and Holiday wines. This smooth Merlot delivers showy black cherry and blueberry flavors with notes of dark chocolate, marshmallow and graham cracker. We recommend decanting the wine before serving it.
Here to get basted! We hope you as a safe and fun Thanksgiving with your family or close friends. Hopefully next year, we can celebrate like the good old days. Remember to consider The Food Crate, Monis Cellars and Flora Springs for your next holiday meal. You can use the code TWINS15 to save 15% off your next The Food Crate and CHEERS3 to save 10% off your next Flora Springs order.
If you think Independence Day is America’s defining holiday, think again. Thanksgiving deserves that title, hands-down.

The food crate is so ample with food choices! And it’s all done for you. Just be creative and make your family feel happy.
I feel tough with family gathering now. Distancing and everything, it is not easy. We don’t celebrate thanksgiving here but I find it important to celebrate with family still. we discussed it and decided to make smaller gatherings
Sounds like a really great way to celebrate during these crazy times. The wine and turkey sounds really amazing as well! Maybe next year I’ll buy a pre-seasoned turkey to save some time.
The turkey looks so nice and your tablescape is awesome. Love it.
