Tailwind and Pinterest are a phenomenal combination. Pinterest is a social media platform that can bring traffic to your website days, months and years after initial posting date. If you haven’t heard of Tailwind, this Tailwind cheatsheet will be a lifesaver. With a little bit of work on Tailwind, you can save a lot of time whether you are a blogger, small business or startup entrepreneur. We are excited to share the how to use Tailwind to boost website traffic in 2021.
Why is Pinterest Important?
When we initially created Twinspirational, we focused on our website and Instagram. Over time, we realized the importance of Pinterest. Pinterest is a visual search engine. Users can either search for ideas about recipes, holidays and fashion tips and so much more. Also have you ever noticed that when you perform a Google search, you’ll see Pinterest Pins in the results? Those pins have great search engine optimization for both Pinterest and Google. Unlike other forms of social media, Pinterest pins can boost traffic to your website on an ongoing or seasonal basis. You can also reach more users on Pinterest with low follower counts. We only have 200 followers, but 1.4mm monthly views. That’s highly unlikely on Instagram.

What is Tailwind?
Tailwind is a Pinterest schedule. You can also use it for Instagram, but we only use it for Pinterest at the moment. Pinning manually with Pinterest is time consuming. Pinterest has a native scheduler but it’s not as user friendly as Tailwind. We use Tailwind to boost website traffic. Tailwind also has a lot more features to save you time.
With Tailwind, you can:
- Upload multiple images quickly
- Schedule your Pinterest pins at the optimal time for your audience
- Analyze Pin performance
- Reach new audiences with Tailwind communities

How to Use Tailwind to Boost Website Traffic?
With Tailwind, you can upload your Pinterest Pins in bulk, write captions and Pin titles. Then you can use the scheduler to spread out and shuffle your posts. After you upload to Tailwind, the new pins are located in the drafts tab. Tailwind will remind you to include a Pin title, description, Pin source URL and a board name. You should create multiple pins for the same blog post and change the Pin title and description slightly. If you use the same wording every time, you run the risk of being labeled a SPAM by Pinterest. Next, hit schedule.

So how do you save time with Tailwind? You can create and upload 5-10 pins for the same blog post. Next copy the Pin source URL and make slight tweaks to the title and description. If you did this manually on Pinterest, you would have to rewrite the title and description from scratch each time. You can also save Pins to your drafts folder, and finish them later. You could also save the pin to multiple boards. At the moment, the Pinterest algorithm penalizes repins to multiple boards. We recommend only pinning to one board right now.
Tailwind’s Smart Scheduler and How to Use it to Grow Your Website Traffic?
Tailwind’s Smart Scheduler is a game changing Pinterest tool. First, you determine the number of time slots per day. Then Tailwind will generate recommended days and times to publish your Pins based on your audience. We aim for about 10 – 15 per day and don’t recommend going over 40 Pins. If you schedule too many Pins, you run the risk of being accidentally labelled as SPAM by Pinterest.

Tailwind has a Smart Loop feature to re-pin seasonal or holiday content. Based on the current Pinterest algorithm, we recommend avoiding this feature. Instead make slight adjustments to the origin Pin design, title and description and post it as a new, fresh Pin.
Tailwind Communities and How to Use them to Grow Your Website Traffic?
Tailwind Communities are groups of Pinterest and Tailwind members that create content in similar niches. Click on Find a Community and join communities in your niche. Each Community has its own rules. It could be repin a Pin for every Pin you upload. Sometimes it’s 2:1 or 3:1 ratio. Users in these communities may repin your pins and help them go viral. Viral pins mean more website traffic.

How Much Does Tailwind Cost?
Tailwind costs $9.99 monthly, when paid annually or $14.99, monthly. Tailwind’s free trial includes 100 pins and 30 monthly submissions to Tailwind Communities. Before Tailwind, we had about 5k monthly views on our Pinterest account. After Tailwind, we peaked at 2mm monthly views. Our results may not be typical. However, we recommend checking Google Analytics and Pinterest Analytics during your trial.

This year, give Tailwind a try and boost your Pinterest and website traffic. Typical Results for Tailwind for Pinterest members can be found here. If you aren’t seeing results during your Trial, reach out to Tailwind help for advice. They are fantastic. If you have any questions, ask us in the comments below.
