Cheers to the end of Dry January! We recommend kicking off February with a detox/retox with Yoga Wine Party. Cofounders, Dina Ivas and Liz Howng, uniquely combine a yoga practice with a wine tasting. Dont worry – you won’t be expected to balance a wine glass in a dancer pose. Dina kicks off with a 60 minute vinyasa session and Liz follows with a 60 minute vino tasting. We are excited to share our afternoon with you.
Yoga has many health benefits, including stress reduction, increased flexibility and improved cardiovascular health. Wine, in moderation, shares many of these benefits. Some yoga wine parties combine the tasting during the practice itself. We prefer the structure of Dina and Liz’s parties as we fall out of poses even when we don’t have a full glass of wine in our hands.
Dina is a certified yoga instructor and currently teaches yoga at The Yoga Room. She guided the aspiring yogis through their poses, correcting form and delivering wine puns throughout the practice.

After the final shavasana, Liz set up the informal wine tasting in the yoga studio. She guided us through six award-winning wines from Boisset Collection. As we moved from one wine to the next, Liz encouraged us to follow the five S’s of a traditional tasting: See, Swirl, Sniff, Sip and Savor. She combined wine education with an open conversation about the wines. Liz even topped off our glasses when we needed an extra sip to make up our mind about a particular wine. And yes, we got a little tipsy by the 6th glass.
The tasting began with a fruity Crémant de Bourgogne. This sparkling wine is made in the Champagne method but costs half the price of Champagne. We also sampled a citrusy Sauvignon Blanc, a berry-heavy Rosé, a fruity Pinot Noir, a smoky Merlot and fruity, chocolatey Meritage.
We highly recommend Yoga Wine Party for your next casual get-together, special occasion or corporate event. You can follow them on Instagram for updates on their next public event. Tickets are $40 and include a 1-hour yoga class and 1-hour guided wine tasting. Check out Delish’s video on Yoga Wine party too. You will find your favorite twins in the video.
Yoga Wine Party infuses two of our favorite things – fitness and wine. Dina and Liz, thanks again for a fabulous event and we can’t wait for more yoga wine parties in 2018.
Sometime you need yoga. Sometimes you need wine. (And that’s okay). – Anonymous
