We had a AMAZING time at our friend Shanti’s bridal shower last week. We wanted to share a few of our favorite things from the party: mimosa bar, cupcake wedding dress and a twist on the traditional wedding dress game.
Mimosa Bar
We LOVE mimosa bars. They are not only visually BEAUTIFUL but also a SIMPLE way to provide a variety of beverage choices for your guests. Not to mention they are incredibly EASY to put together: mimosas just require champagne (feel free to substitute with prosecco, cava or other sparkling wine) and juice. The classic mimosa uses fresh orange juice, but to create a beautiful mimosa bar we suggest mixing it up with a few brightly colored juices. Trust us, guests will LOVE customizing and assembling their own drink concoctions. Here are some tips for the PERFECT mimosa bar:
- Mimosas call for equal parts of champagne and juice. We suggest adding the champagne first, followed by the juice to prevent any overflowing. We love Stephanie Lynn’s adorable mimosa bar menu
- Chill the sparkling wine and juice in the fridge for 4 hours prior to serving to enhance the flavor
- Use champagne flutes: the long stem allows the drinker to hold the glass without altering the temperature of the drink; the tall narrow bowl is designed to retain champagne’s bubbles
- Incorporate a variety of juices: blueberry, lemonade, mango, peach, strawberry, pineapple, pomegranate and/or cranberry. You can find Stephanie’s fun juice labels here
- Use glass carafes to serve the juices
- Add fruit garnishes: they not only look pretty but they add a splash of flavor too. We suggest raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, oranges, pears, lemons and/or pineapple. You can even freeze fresh fruit on skewers. The frozen fruit will look beautiful in the flutes and chill your drink. The skewer also makes it easy to eat the fruit when the glass is empty
- Coat the rim of the champagne flutes with sugar
- Chill champagne in an ice bucket on the bar
- Add club soda or sparkling water for an alcohol-free option for pregnant women and non-drinkers
- Have paper straws available for mixing the mimosas
Cupcake Wedding Dress
The dessert table featured YUMMY cupcakes, cake pops and macarons. The star of the table was the cupcake wedding dress. This is incredibly easy for any bakery to put together. It’s also fairly easy to bake regular or mini-cupcakes and shape them into a wedding dress. Use a Wilton 1M tip to pipe white and pink frosting on the cupcakes. Then arrange the treats into the shape of a wedding dress. You can find Archana’s wedding dress cupcakes here.
Indian Wedding Dress Game
You’ve probably all played the traditional toilet paper wedding dress game. At Shanti’s shower, the game took an Indian twist! We were divided into groups and tasked with making a wedding sari, lehenga or salwar kameez. To play this game we used paper streamers and ribbon in a variety of bright colors. The winner was Shanti’s niece- she looked adorable in her pink Indian Sari and red ribbon jewelry.
We had a wonderful time at the shower. We can’t wait for the wedding in a few weeks!
