Halloween is one of the most entertaining holidays of the year. We partnered with Stop & Shop to create a chic tablescape that was full of drama and modern elegance. With our stylish tips, you can create a sophisticated Monster Mash that will be full of more tricks than treats and fun for the whole family.
There is something magical about bringing together family and friends for a sophisticated dinner party. Every Halloween, we transform our dining table into the perfect spooky setting for our guests. Festive Halloween decor does not need to break the bank. We created our tablescape by mixing Stop & Shop’s Halloween collection with some decorative pieces already in our homes.
The Color Palette
We incorporated a twist on the traditional Halloween colors of black and orange by adding pops of white and lime green.
The Backdrop
We used backdrops to frame our space and transform the tablescape into a three dimensional masterpiece. We created our backdrop with Stop & Shop’s orange and black plastic tablecloths. If you don’t have access to a backdrop stand, we recommend hanging the tablecloths/fabrics with painter’s tape or nails. We completed the backdrop with a chic black and white triangle garland and a traditional Happy Halloween Banner.
The Tablescape
We placed a chic black and white striped runner on our spooktacular table. This runner coordinated nicely with the black and white triangle banner on the backdrop. We placed Stop & Shop’s whimsical orange and black platters and lanterns on the table. We filled the platters with colorful goodies. We created our eerie elegance by pairing ghosts, skeleton hands and cauldrons with autumnal pumpkins and candles.
Our autumnal floral centerpiece included white hydrangea, green ball flowers and auburn pincushions.
We bewitched our guests with our haunting place settings. We added texture to our tablescape and set a spooky mood with our bat placemats. We layered classic white plates, orange napkins, ghost marshmallows and treat bags. We added spiderweb place card holders to accent the plate setting and ensure our guests knew where to rest in peace.
After dinner, we recommend clearing the table and using the backdrop as a photobooth. We love using balloons as props, and Stop & Shop has a large assortment of medium and jumbo Halloween balloons. Sometimes the adults have just as much fun with balloons as the kids.
We love a well styled dessert table. The key to a beautiful dessert table is height, color and variety. Use cake stands or prop platters with bowls underneath.
We hope you enjoyed our Monster Mash with Stop & Shop. Now it’s your turn. Head over to Stop & Shop and create your own tablescape and tag us, Stop & Shop and use the hashtag #hostingwithSS.
“I was working in the lab, late one night when my eyes beheld an eerie sight. For my monster from his slab, began to rise and suddenly to my surprise, he did the mash, he did the monster mash.” – Bobby Pickett
