Blackberry Cobble Recipe: Ingredients
Life is what you bake of it! We love a good blackberry all year round. Blackberries peak from late spring to early fall. If you make this recipe later n the fall, you can use frozen blackberries. This Blackberry Cobbler recipe is quite easy to make for as little as two people. Just double or triple the recipe if your dinner party is for four or six guests. The recipe also uses flour, oats, brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon and salt.
Blackberry Cobbler Recipe: Tips
- Berries: you can use fresh or frozen blackberries or any other berries. Add one to two tablespoons of water if substituting fresh fruit. You can also use a mix of strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and/or blackberries.
- Brown Sugar: We used two tablespoons of brown sugar. If you like your dessert sweeter, add another tablespoon or two. You can substitute with granulated sugar or dark brown sugar.
- Cinnamon: You can substitute with allspice or apple pie spice.
- Butter: You can substitute with margarine or olive oil.
- Ice Cream: Mandatory. The flavors of this blackberry cobbler really come together when topped with vanilla ice cream.
- Dessert for Two: Great idea when you want to make a small dessert for two vs. a large cake or batch of cupcakes.
- Healthier: This dessert doesn’t use a large amount of butter or sugar, and just a little bit of flour and oats.
Blackberry Cobbler Recipe: Instructions
I’ve been searching for buried treasure. We placed the frozen blackberries in a loaf pan. Next we poured the vanilla extract over the berries. Next we melted the butter and stirred the butter together with flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt. We used our fingers to combine the ingredients into a crumble topping.
The final step is to sprinkle the crumbles evenly over blackberries and bake at 350˚F for 20 minutes.
This blackberry cobbler recipe tastes like a pie with extra juice. Serve it warm and topped with vanilla ice cream. The vanilla ice cream balances the tartness of the cobbler and provides some additional richness and body.
I’m berry fond of you. We served this Blackberry Cobbler recipe as part of a three-course Black and Burgundy Halloween dinner party. We served the dessert in a Mikasa Swirl Black with Graphite Ombre Coupe salad/dessert plate with Mikasa Delano Gunmetal flatware. These black dishes and flatware are fantastic for a Halloween dinner party. Make sure to use a CV Linens burgundy tablecloth too. The other courses were Beet Soup and Lamb Chops with Spaghetti Squash and Pomegranates. The colors of the courses were a match made in Halloween heaven.
It happened right before my berry eyes. This fall, make this Blackberry Cobbler recipe. It’s not too sweet, but delicious. If want to style your own burgundy and black Halloween dinner party, then serve this dessert as the dessert course and then get the rest of recipes and decor tips here.
As a little girl, I remember always wanting my grandmother to make blackberry cobbler for me. I’m obsessed with it.
