40 is the new 30, and what better way to celebrate this milestone birthday than with a theme party. Our friend Hima asked us to help her plan a forty and fabulous birthday party. She requested a simple and fun theme. After some brainstorming, we decided on a Game Night. Who doesn’t love gathering around a table playing games, drinking wine and laughing with friends? We are excited to share Hima’s Game Night birthday with you.
We created our whimsical invitation using Evite. Rather than email invitations, we highly recommend using an invitation website to send out party details and track RSVPs. Evite has lots of game night themed invitations.
We incorporated a color palette of gold, red, black and white. We placed bouquets of red roses, white alstroemeria, marigold flowers, auburn pincushions, black calla lilies on the coffee tables and bar. We added some whimsy by placing some dice or red gems inside the floral arrangements. We placed a Happy Birthday Banner above the bar.
Delicious libations set the tone for game night. We created a stylish bar with a gold sequin tablecloth, adorable game night floral arrangements, and wine, liquor and a signature cocktail. The signature cocktail was a cosmopolitan, served in martini glasses. We are served red, white, rose and sparkling wine as well as as assortment of hard alcohol. We chilled the white and sparkling wine in a Beatriz Ball Sterling Silver Ice Bucket. We also placed game night themed cocktail napkins on the bar.
We also placed wine on a Beatriz Ball Sterling Silver tray so that guests could pick up a beverage as soon as they walked into the room.
A well planned game night will keep everyone laughing all night long. With the right mood and the help of a little liquid courage, even the most old-fashioned games like Jenga can be lots of fun. We also added games with a modern sophisticated twist like Prosecco Pong and Bean Bag toss.
Prosecco Pong was definitely the big hit of the night. We recommend pouring water in the champagne flutes and having a separate glass of Prosecco to drink as the game progresses.
We served a variety of passed apps including crab cakes, stuffed mushrooms, tomato bruschetta, ceasar salad, frisee salad, followed by lasagna, sea bass, hangar steak, grilled chicken and salmon.
No party is complete without a Photo Booth and birthday balloons. We used a gold fringe curtain, jumbo red 40 balloons and game night props to make our fabulous Photo Booth.
Hima’s sisters brought a cake from her favorite bakery. The cake was delicious.
Happy Birthday Hima! Thanks again for letting us add some Twinspiration to your birthday.
