It is time to fall into Fall with APPLE picking, warm APPLE cider donuts and fresh pressed APPLE cider! Earlier this month, we visited Wright’s Farm in Gardiner, New York to get our fill of fresh APPLES and the beautiful Fall foliage. When you pluck the perfect apple straight from the tree yourself, it tastes even better! You also depart with a goody bag full of freshly picked apples that can be used to make sweet and savory bites from soups to crisps, and everything in between.
Wright’s Farm is a five generation family run farm in Gardiner, New York. The farm is 453 acres and produces 100,000 bushels of apples each year. You can also find cherries, peaches, plums, nectarines, berries, tomatoes, pumpkins and squash. There is a quaint market with a large selection of homemade baked treats (pies, cookies, fruit breads), apple cider donuts, apple cider and canned goodies (jams, jellies, pickles and apple sauces). You can even sample some of these yummy items while you browse. We picked up donuts, apple cider and strawberry rhubarb jam.
Wright’s Farm is perfect for adventures with families or friends. Some farms/orchards price apples by the pound, but at Wright’s Farm adults pay a flat fee of $12, which includes a bag to store your freshly picked apples.
Tickets:
Adult (10+): $12
Kid (4-9): $6
Each ticket includes:
- 1 bag of apples (1 peck for adults and 1/2 peck for kids)
- Free Parking
- Access to the entire 453 acre farm
- Hiking/Biking Trails
September is prime apple picking season. You will find the most varieties of apples then. By mid-October, many trees will be picked clean but you can experience the beautiful changing leaves. We recommend bringing a picnic basket and blanket to enjoy lunch inside the orchard. There’s also a swing that makes you feel like a child at the playground.
After lunch, we visited Wallkill View Farm in New Paltz for an authentic Fall harvest experience. Wallkill is a third generation family run farm with a small bakery, vegetable market and pumpkin patch. We took an exciting little hayride to get to the patch, where we found a gorgeous 18 pound pumpkin. We also picked up spaghetti squash and butternut squash at the market. We concluded our harvest adventure by getting lost in a corn maze.
It was a wonderful day and we can’t wait to show you what we did with the apples and pumpkin!
