What a one-derful time to be one! Last month, we photographed Sofia’s milestone birthday. A first birthday photoshoot can be easily taken at home. All you need is a color palette, balloon, birthday hat, cupcake (or cake) and a birthday dress (or outfit). We recommend shooting near a window to get as much natural light into the shots. We are excited to share this first birthday photoshoot with you.
First Birthday Photoshoot: Select a Stunning Color Palette
One-derland. Selecting the perfect color palette is a crucial step in creating a memorable first birthday photoshoot. The right colors can set the tone for the entire shoot and create a cohesive look that ties everything together. For Sofia’s first birthday photoshoot, we opted for a stunning color palette of bubblegum pink and metallic gold. This combination of colors created a playful yet sophisticated look that perfectly suited the occasion. The bubblegum pink added a fun, girlish touch, while the metallic gold added a touch of glamour.
First Birthday Photoshoot: Fill a Jumbo Metallic Gold Number 1 Ballon with Helium
Our ONE and only! When it comes to a first birthday photoshoot, every detail counts. We filled a large gold number one balloon with helium. The balloon not only adds a festive and playful touch to the photos, but also serves as a symbolic representation of the milestone being celebrated. The large gold number one balloon became an instant focal point of the photos
First fiesta. It is important to remember that with any helium balloon, it is crucial to tie it with a balloon weight to ensure that it stays in place and doesn’t float away. This is a pro-tip that is often overlooked, but can save a lot of frustration and disappointment in the end. So, if you’re planning a first birthday photoshoot, don’t forget to include a large gold number one helium balloon, but make sure to tie it down properly to avoid any mishaps. It’s the little details like this that can make all the difference in creating an amazing and memorable photoshoot.
First Birthday Photoshoot: Make Her First Birthday Extra Special with a Pink Party Hat
To add even more fun and excitement to Sofia’s first birthday photoshoot, we decided to pair the jumbo gold number one balloon with a pink and gold birthday hat. The hat not only complemented the color palette of the photoshoot, but also added a playful and celebratory touch. It was the perfect accessory for our little one to wear while posing with the balloon and provided some great candid moments. We opted for a pink and gold hat that matched the color scheme and added some sparkle and shine. Sofia’s mom even use the pink and gold birthday hat as a prop.
First Birthday Photoshoot: Style Your Little Girl in a Chic Pink Dress
Everything is better in pink. When it came to selecting the perfect pink dress for our little Sofia’s first birthday photoshoot, we knew we wanted something special. We decided on a gorgeous bubblegum pink dress from Rufflebutts. Our niece, Keira also has this dress and loves it. The dress perfectly matched our color palette. To capture some truly memorable shots, we decided to let Sofia free play on the floor while wearing the dress. This allowed us to capture some candid and spontaneous moments, and Sofia’s adorable personality really shone through.
Look on the pink side of life. When choosing a dress for your little one’s first birthday photoshoot, consider not only the style and color, but also the comfort and practicality. A dress that allows your little one to move and play freely can make all the difference in capturing those priceless moments.
First Birthday Photoshoot: Unleash the Fun with a Cake or Cupcake Smash to Your Little One’s First Birthday Photoshoot
Turning one never looked so sweet. No first birthday photoshoot is complete without the classic cake smash or cupcake moment. For our photoshoot, we decided to go with a cupcake instead of a full cake since none of the adults were interested in dessert. But just because it was a smaller treat, didn’t mean it was any less fun or memorable. In fact, it was the perfect size for Sofia to enjoy and allowed us to capture some truly adorable moments.
I’m not one, I’m one-derful! We positioned Sofia in front of the cupcake and began singing “Happy Birthday” to her. As soon as she saw the cupcake, her face lit up with excitement and she couldn’t wait to dig in. Watching her sweetly smash the cupcake with her hands and devour it with delight was one of the highlights of the entire photoshoot.
I came, I saw, I smashed! Sofia loved her first birthday cupcake. You could also buy a cake from a bakery or bake your own from scratch. Since this was a quick, last minute photoshoot, we decided on a vanilla cupcake with vanilla buttercream.
One year young. Celebrating your little one’s first birthday with a first birthday photoshoot is a wonderful way to capture those special memories and milestones. From selecting a color palette and outfit, to incorporating props such as a jumbo gold balloon and party hat, there are so many creative ways to make the photoshoot unique and memorable. And of course, no first birthday photoshoot would be complete without a cake or cupcake smash moment, which can capture some of the most adorable and candid moments of the day. We snapped an adorable family picture with the birthday balloon. To get this shot yourself, you’ll need a tripod and a remote trigger. We hope these tips help you for your kid’s first birthday photoshoot.
You may still be tiny and small, but you have stolen the hearts of one and all.
