Kettle down everyone! Today, we will give you some mo-tea-vation to make the most out of social distancing. We partnered with Kate Aspen to host a chic party featuring the Tea Time Whimsy collection. We treated our family to homemade tea sandwiches as well as freshly baked pastries and macarons. We are excited to share our creativi-tea with you.
The tradition of afternoon tea was introduced in England by Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford, in the 1840s. At the time, it was customary to eat only breakfast and dinner. Each afternoon, Anna would request a pot of tea, bread and butter and cake. She began inviting guests to join her for afternoon tea. Her parties became popular and many Brits began adopting the tradition of sipping tea and consuming tea sandwiches in the afternoon.
Kate Aspen’s Tea Time Whimsy collection makes it easy to plan an afternoon tea party at home. Tea parties are a trendy, fashionable way to toast new brides, mothers and birthday girls. Consider this theme for your next bridal shower, mother’s day, brunch party, spring tea party or activity with kids.
Keira helped us set the table and taste tested all the tea sandwiches. She also invited some of her friends to afternoon tea.
Guests were greeted with a Welcome – It’s time to Par-Tea sign.
We draped an adorable Par-Tea Time teal and pink teapot banner above the fireplace.
Eye-catching decor, colorful centerpieces and beautiful bone china are key to creating an elegant tea party. With Kate Aspen’s Tea Time Whimsy collection, you can style this party this without breaking the bank. We created our charming centerpiece with the extra large and medium vintage blue distressed lanterns and the tea time whimsy ceramic bud vases.
We placed fragrant pink lilies, spray roses, alstroemeria and baby’s breath inside the bud vases. Our centerpiece coordinated with the gold motifs in our vintage china.
We recommend neutral linens to balance out the colorful tea time tableware collection. The pink, teal and green floral-print napkins, large elegant blue plates and pink dessert plates added some feminine grandeur. We used our antique china, which perfectly coordinated with this collection. If you don’t have enough tea cups, you can always go for a mismatched teacup look (or ask guests to bring their own teacup).
Next up is the tea-riffic menu. Nothing goes better with a cup of tea than tea sandwiches. We prepared three varieties of afternoon tea sandwiches. Tea sandwiches are smaller than traditional sandwiches and their dainty fillings are chopped into small pieces. Cut the crusts off and then be creative in presentation. You can slice them into fun shapes with a knife or even use a cookie cutter.
Our favorite tea sandwich was the Cucumber and Lemony Dill Cream Cheese Tea Sandwiches. We sliced these sandwiches into triangles and topped with extra dill and raspberries.
Next, we made circular egg salad sandwiches. Pro-tip, use a cookie cutter that let’s you get two circles per slice of bread. We topped these sandwiches with cilantro.
Our final tea sandwich was tomato cheddar that we cut into rectangles.
We also served chocolate croissants, chocolate pumpkin bread and mini eclairs.
We placed a mix of raspberry, passion fruit, rose lychee, salted caramel and birthday cake macarons on share plates.
We brewed a pot of Lady Grey tea. It was tas-tea. We like our tea black, but we recommend setting the table with milk and sugar. You can also brew multiple types of tea so that your guests have options. We recommend Earl Grey, green, chai, peppermint, camomile, fruit, herbal and/or English Breakfast.
We wanted to give our guests a par-tea-ing gift. Keira helped us set up the Tea Time Whimsy Teapot Favor Box.
We placed a Lady Grey teabag inside each party favor. Even the favor smells like tea spirit.
Sweet dreams are made of teas. Go head and invite your bes-teas over for a tea party. We highly recommend Kate Aspen’s Tea Time Whimsy collection. Remember that drinking tea will give you sereni-tea .
