Have you ever wondered what St. Paddy’s Day would look like in August? Well that’s exactly what our 33rd birthday looked like (excluding the leprechauns)! Color is a simple, yet creative way to make a party more special for you and your guests. P. Diddy (or whatever he calls himself these days) was infamous for his white parties. We see a lot of pink and blue at baby showers and children’s parties. Green, however, seems to be worn in large groups only on March 17th. We wanted to change that!
Preparing this menu was significantly easier than the prior year’s blue party given the sheer number of naturally green fruits and veggies. Guests had their choice of 3 delicious bruschettas: roasted green pepper with fresh ricotta; pesto with mozzarella, arugula and shaved parmesan; and cucumber, strawberry and goat cheese. The crowd favorite was definitely the pesto. Spinach dip and guacamole rounded out our appetizers. We also grilled burgers and hotdogs. This year’s speciality drink was a sparkling pear cocktail.
The desserts included sour grapes, green apples with caramel sauce, chocolate covered strawberries and marshmallows, chocolate chip cookies with green chocolate drizzle and cupcakes. Archana elevated the cupcake flavors this year with mini key lime cupcakes with a graham cracker crust, key lime curd filling and key lime buttercream frosting as well as mini chocolate cupcakes with a chocolate ganache filling and mint buttercream frosting.
It was so much fun to see everyone “go green” for our birthday.
We hope you enjoyed our Coloring Your Birthday series.
