We celebrated the big 37 by ruffling some feathers at our Let’s Flamingle birthday party. We elevated the traditional Hawaiian luau by incorporating a sophisticated pink, green, yellow and white color palette as well as lots of tropical elements. We transformed a residential lounge into a tropical oasis, featuring lots of pink fluffy-winged creatures, pink and yellow specialty cocktails, palm fonds, tropical decorations as well as rose gold, confetti and gold balloons. This theme was everywhere this summer, so we excited to share our Twinspirational version with you.
the invitation
A perfect flamingle party begins with the perfect flamingle invitation. We used Splash to customize our tropical themed invitation with lots of pink, flamingos and pineapples. Splash distributes online invitations (think Evite, Paperless Post and Punchbowl), manages contact lists (think MailChimp), sells tickets (think Eventbrite), and creates a page to showcase the postparty photos (think Flickr). You can find our original invitation here.
the tropical oasis
We incorporated several tropical elements to bring a Hawaiian luau to NYC. Our color palette featured shades of pink and green along with pops of yellow and white. We scattered flamingos, palm fronds, flowers and balloons around the room. We also placed flamingo ornaments in wooden foam slides and set them on the table. We also placed Let’s Flamingle pillows on the couches. Olga from International Garden created our adorable floral arrangements with pink and yellow roses with baby’s breath, white hydrangeas with yellow tulips and magenta cockscomb. We used Press Print Party’s Flamingle printables. The collection featured flamingos, pineapples and luau themed signs.
tropical wear
Guests were asked to dress in tropical or Hawaiian inspired attire. Guests sported floral or tropical dresses, Hawaiian shirts, leis or hula skirts.
a luau feast
The luau menu included a cheese plate, chips with fresh tropic-guac, grilled pineapple salsa and mango salsa and pineapple rosemary goat cheese balls. We also served crabs cakes and dumplings as well as burgers and hot dogs.
the tiki bar
We framed our Tiki Bar with gold, rose gold and confetti balloons. We ordered the TIKI BAR balloons from Instaballoons (use the code Twinspirational to save 10%). We love ordering balloons from Instaballoons because you can easily type out the phrases you need, rather than add each letter to your cart, which let’s face it, takes a while and you could accidentally misspell your phrase. We also ordered balloons from Paperboy. Paperboy makes the most beautiful balloon bouquets in a variety of shades. We used their Rose Gold collection. We filled the rose gold and confetti balloons with helium using our Balloon Time Helium Tank.
We decorated the bar with tan linens, colorful chevron and pink napkins, pineapple cups, flamingo straws and pink roses with baby’s breath. We believe every tropical party should have at least one signature focktails. Guests had their choice of Flock like a Flamingo or Party like a Pineapple. Our bartenders mixed up pitchers of cocktails so guests could shake their tail-feathers! We also served red, white and rosé wine, Gold Cliff IPA as well as pink lemonade for children. Our rosé wine dressed up in flamingo, pineapple and palm tree palm toppers from Pottery Barn. The twins kicked off the festivities with a champagne toast with Nicolas Feuillatte Rosé champagne.
the tropical sweets
Guests loved our tropical dessert table. The key to create a stunning dessert display is utilizing platters and vases in a variety of sizes, heights, shapes and widths. We recommend sticking largely to white or neutral serving dishes as colorful desserts photograph beautifully against them. We used a palm leaf backdrop from Paperramma. Paperramma’s high quality fabric backdrops are beautiful and the largest available in the U.S. They have a variety of colors and themes or you can create a custom theme. We layered on gorgeous paper leaves in shades of green and pink from Candy Tree for a dessert table with a three dimensional look. Candy Tree can custom create paper leaves or flowers in any style or size. We also used our Balloon Time Helium Tank to inflate our giant flamingo balloon and tied him to our backdrop (we could have alternatively tied him to a balloon weight).
We used a beige tablecloth and placed pink rose and baby’s breath arrangements in the middle of the dessert table. We used printables from Press Print Party to create the Dessert Menu. The table centerpiece was pink Cherry Blossom macarons from MacarOn Café. These moist almond treats of joy were scrumptious bites of heaven. We also ordered them in Passion fruit and displayed them on white cake plates. Archana baked pink velvet mini cupcakes and shaped them like a flamingo as well as pineapple upside down mini cupcakes and shaped them like a pineapple. We placed Penny Janes’ tropical sugar cookies on our three-tied wooden foam stand. Julie custom created the tropical cookies- we loved her flamingo, pineapple, palm tree and seashell cookies. They tasted as good as they looked. Archana also made a chocolate tower and filled it with flamingo, pineapple, palm tree and floral chocolates for party favors.
Guests sang Happy Birthday and tried both cupcakes. For adult parties, we recommend mini desserts, so that guests can try a little bit of many sweets.
birds of a feather flock together
We recommend adding Photo Booth backdrops and props to every themed party. While purchases from Etsy will easily run in the $100 range, the memories you make with them will be worth so much more. We started with a tropical backdrop rom Paperramma and then layered gold ballon letters from Instaballoons. Like the bar, we filled the rose gold, confetti and flamingo balloons with helium using our Balloon Time Helium Tank. This small, disposable helium tank works wonders and saved us a trip to our local Party store. Let’s be honest, when planning an Instagram-Worthy party, we’ll take any time that we can save on the day of our party. During our Fire & Ice birthday party, we purchased large 3 and 5 balloons, and unfortunately one of them blew away while we walked from our local party store to the venue. One of our guests got us a replacement 3, so that we could celebrate our 35th (and not 5th) birthday. It was still quite stressful so we would definitely recommend the Balloon Time Helium Tank. The tank is light and easy to use. Make sure to have string and/or balloon weights ready. Also if the party is kid friendly, fill up some extra balloons because children will want to play with them. Also make sure you sufficiently fill up the confetti balloons as they won’t rise if they are under filled.
Next we supplied our guests with lots of props from Instaballoons, Press Print Party and Candy Tree. Our dessert backdrop also made for an excellent photo op.
Thanks to our friends who came to flamingle and mingle with us and all of our amazing sponsors.

That is a great theme and very well done. Those cakes look awesome! I always plan and do my own theme and decorations for my kids parties this year, so I am going to keep this in mind.

Thanks one half of Twinspirational make the pullout cupcakes. They are minis, which we think are better for adult parties.

I view the situation as this: Rosalina represents her Iceworld plus all unowned rainbow tracks. Although Honey Queen primarily represented MK7’s Rainbow Road, that’s not to say it doesn’t represent Rosalina as-well. Rainbow Road is located in space with a Mario-Galaxy feel to it;therefore can relate to both HQ and Rosalina. However, Rainbow Road won because it was a great course and not because of the characters that represent it. The characters popularity may have helped a little, but for the most part, no not really.
I do agree that all these games are the best for the snes,I would however put final fantasy 3 in the top five and replace Mario Kart putting it in the #6 spot instead and moving the others down, the reason I say this is cause final fantasy 3 was the best rpg on the snes in my opinion, I liked it just a bit more than chrono trigger, now as for a link to the past I do agree 100% that it should be in the #1 spot for lots of reasons, it was amazing, its a shame most kids today haven’t played one of the greatest adventure game of all time, great job this list guys, you finally put out a top 10 I agree with.
Anyone else remember a little game called Secret of Evermore? It was Secret of Mana Perfected. It still ranks as, in my opinion, one of the greatest RPG’s with a fantastic setting, characters and some wonderful gameplay. It was simple, fast to pick up and almost impossible to put back down.
No?
Just me?
Alright.
Hello. remarkable job. I did not expect this. This is a splendid story. Thanks!
I’m so excited for the SNES Classic, and even though I didn’t get a preorder it would have been great if these top 25 games would have been the preloaded one (Although most are). The only ones I felt deserved a spot were Actrasier, Mario Paint, Krustys Super Fun House, Killer Instinct and God forgive me Bubsy. I mean those were some of my SNES games of my childhood and I still think they’re great (No matter what anyone says) Overall though to this day I think the SNES was the best video game system to date!
OMG this is super adorable! Perfect for my cousins upcoming birthday! Love all the decors here!
Oh my goodness what a fun party these! Love how everything turned out and it looks like a wonderful party for sure 😉
