Girls just wanna have sun! It’s time to bid adieu to summer and say hello to fall. The pandemic cancelled our vacation plans and confined us to stay at home. After the number of new coronavirus cases declined dramatically in NYC, we hosted small groups of friends outdoors. We celebrated the End of Summer with a pink flamingo themed soirée. With our tips, you can host your own beautiful end of summer party.
How to Decorate for an End of Summer Party?
Start with a theme! Last year, we styled a Nautical party. This year, we were inspired by pink flamingos. We hosted a Let’s Flamingle birthday party a few years ago and repurposed many of the decorations for our end of summer party. Our guests were greeted with bright fuchsia flamingo lawn ornaments.
We also placed Let’s Flamingle pillows on our patio chairs.
How to Style an End of Summer Tablescape?
Our chic end of summer tablescape featured shades of pink, cream, green and silver. We framed the table with paper fans, paper flowers and end of summer silver letter balloons. We dressed the table with a green petal tablecloth, blush pintuck table runner and blush napkins.
Each place setting featured a rose gold charger plate, ivory plate, green dessert plate, rose gold tableware napkin tucked inside a napkin ring and rose gold silverware.
Our floral arrangements included pink and white roses, daisies, spray roses and scabiosa.
How to Create an End of Summer Photobooth?
Our tablescape doubled as a gorgeous summer photobooth. We recommend snapping all your photos before the sunsets.
What Wine to Serve?
We partnered with Monis Cellars to feature a mix of their wines. Monis is a boutique, low production winery based in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. They craft wines with lower sulfites versus their bigger commercial counterparts. We decorated the wine with flamingo, pineapple and palm tree wine toppers.
We started our Monis wine tasting with the 2019 Chardonnay, which has rich tropical aromas and a lasting creamy finish.
Next we sampled the 2018 Nebbiolo Rosé, which has aromas of raspberries, citrus, and peach and tasting notes of strawberries, citrus and cream.
Then we moved on to the reds, starting with the 2019 Pinot Noir. This wine has notes of bright red fruit, naturally bright acidity and good structure as well as aromas of dried cherries and a hint of dark chocolate.
Our final wine was the 2018 Syrah Santa Barbara Syrah. This wine was smooth with layers of dark fruits and hints of peppers. We enjoyed drinking all of the wines, but we had a slight preference for the reds. Since summer is over, we recommend getting the Pinot and Syrah for your next fall dinner or virtual happy hour.
What Food to Serve?
We kept our summer grilling simple with turkey and beef burgers as well as chicken and pork sausages.
We served our burgers with cheese, spicy mayo, tri-color pesto pasta. Of course, we topped our burgers with a flamingo pick.
We also served watermelon with the flamingo picks.
We served strawberry mousse for dessert and displaced it on a gorgeous rose gold cake plate.
Farewell summer! Summer 2020 wasn’t like anything any of us expected With some Twinspiration, we hope you are able to get outside and spend time catching up with friends.
A fallen leaf is nothing more than a summer’s wave goodbye.

This looks so adorable! I love the toppers on the wine bottles, super cute! Where did you get them?
We have the same vibe. Love the end of summer theme I had a welcome to Fall picnic!
It began as a cute idea, but it doesn’t vibe as a good theme for this particular time of year to me. If I had viewed the ideas and color scheme under a “Welcome Summer” party idea, it would have made sense. As is, it seems cheaply done and the writing only underscores that impression. “A fallen leaf is nothing more than a summer’s wave goodbye.” Correct, but the quote conjures up images of autumn leaves and an entirely different color/decor scheme. Hard pass.
