Welcome little peanut! Two weeks ago, our childhood friend, Shelly, received the best birthday present – her beautiful baby girl, Ria, was born! Back in July, we helped Shelly, her sister, Shveta, and her husband, Prashant plan an adorable pink elephant themed baby shower and we are excited to share the details with you.
the invitationÂ
Shelly and Prashant wanted to be actively involved in the planning of the shower. After a few weeks of brainstorming, they selected a pink elephant theme. Shveta used Baby Ellenphant Designs from Etsy to create the invitation.
the decorÂ
The invitation set the color palette of the party. We filled the room with baby pink, pearly white and slate gray decor. While you can certainly design your own printables, we prefer to buy them on Etsy. If you have time and want to save money, we suggest buying the digitals. If you are low on time, you can purchase ready-made printables at a higher price. We used Crease and Cut‘s elephant themed banners, posters, games and favor tags. We asked Olga from International Garden to create pink and white floral arrangements. We decorated the welcome table with a beautiful bouquet of pink and white alstroemeria in bud vases. We put hot pink, white and magenta pom poms on the bookcase. We hung a pink and gray balloons and a WELCOME BABY banner on the windows. Lastly, we placed pink/white daisies and white votive candles with pink gems on the coffee tables.
elephant bites
We served an Italian buffet from Shelly’s favorite Italian pizzeria on Staten Island, Village Maria Pizza. The menu included Pizza, Dinner Rolls, Caprese Salad, Chicken Parmesan, Eggplant Rollatini and Stuffed Mushrooms. We highly recommend food tents for non-formal parties as they can be both decorative and informative.
the watering hole
We recommend a well styled bar that coordinates with the theme or color palette of the party. We decorated the “watering hole” with silver linens, pink daisies as well as pink and custom elephant napkins. We believe every party should have at least one signature cocktail. Guests had their choice of the Pink Elephant cocktail and the Drink Pink mocktail. We asked our bartender to make the cocktails in pitchers so they could be handed to guests upon arrival. Pre-poured drinks also add pops of color to the bar. We also served red, white and rosé wine.
elephant treats
Guests loved the chic dessert table. The key to create a stunning dessert display is utilizing platters and vases in a variety of sizes, heights, shapes and widths. We recommend pairing white serving dishes with colorful desserts. We used a pink and white chevron backdrop from Huayiphoto to create the perfect girlie dessert table. This backdrop is perfect for bridal showers, baby showers and pink parties. We placed bouquets of mini daisies and ranunculus on the ends of the dessert table along with votive candles and pink gems. The star of the dessert table was the fabulous cake from Mother Mousse, our favorite bakery in Staten Island. We also decorated the table with cylinder vases filled with floating candles/pink water, pink hydrangea/white lilies and pillar candles/pink gems. For favors, we ordered adorable elephant cake pops from Sparkling Sweets Shop on Etsy and mini champagne bottles from Empire Wine and placed them inside white baskets from Amazon.
the perfect shotÂ
We recommend adding Photo Booth backdrops and props to every themed party. While purchases from Etsy will easily run in the $100 range, the memories you make with them will be worth so much more. We ordered a second pink and white chevron backdrop from Huayiphoto.
the entertainment
Shveta came up with some fun shower games, including Predictions, The Price is Right, What’s in Your Purse and Estimating Belly Size.
Congrats Shelly and Prashant Ranyal and the rest of the family. We can’t wait to meet baby Ria.
