Dinner at home can sometimes be more fun than dining out. Our friend, Joanna, asked for some TWINSPIRATION for her casual, yet elegant dinner party for 13. After some brainstorming, we proposed La Nuit En Rose, which is Diner En Blanc with a PINK twist! Color themed dinner parties present excellent opportunities to get creative with the menu, decor and dress code.
Joanna selected a stunning color palette of soft blush and hot pink with touches of white and black. She kept the overall decor fresh, feminine and glamorous. She stylishly weaved all these elements together on one beautiful table. She placed fuchsia gladiolus and bubblegum snap dragons in adorable mason jars and tea lights in glass candle holders. For some added whimsy, Joanna scattered blush flower petals on the table. Hot pink glasses and blush napkins provided additional pops of color.
For larger dinner parties, we generally recommend going potluck. It is an excellent way to host an exciting evening that doesn’t break the bank and won’t keep you in the kitchen all day long. As an added bonus, your friends get to showcase their culinary skills. Guests were asked to dress in pink and bring a pink dish and beverage. Kanchana created a gorgeous baby pink menu using Must Have Menus.
We started the evening sipping our favorite Robert Sinskey rose. We also enjoyed pink champagne and pink rose cava. Our friend, Camille, brought some refreshing Strawberry Acai All Beauty Water. This water is specially formulated with vitamins and nutrients to help hydrate and nourish skin.
We dined on turkey sliders, wild salmon, roasted beets, dried fruits and nuts, hummus and crackers, shrimp scampi, rhubarb salsa and tomato bruschetta. The appetizers and mains were bursting with flavor, and everyone had fun composing their dishes.
The desserts were not only beautiful but also delicious. We nibbled on strawberry shortcake, pink velvet cake and chocolate covered strawberry and marshmallow pops.
We had a fabulous time at Joanna’s La Nuit en Rose. Pink parties are fantastic in the spring and summer. We are even considering hosting a pinknic in Central Park later this year.
