Pop the bubbly and raise a glass to the end of Summer! We bid adieu to Summer with a fabulous sparkling wine dinner party, featuring Gloria Ferrer, Instaballoons and Snowfox. We are excited to pop the bubbly with you.
Gloria Ferrer opened in 1986 as the first sparkling vineyard in Sonoma Carneros. The estate spans 335 acres and produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. The Ferrer family has been in the winemaking business since the 16th century in Spain.
Sparkling wine isn’t just for NYE or special celebrations. This wine is versatile and pairs well with Thai food. The effervescence of the wine cuts the spiciness of Thai cuisine and adds textural contrast for crispy fried food. Bubbles accentuate the flavor in Thai food and pair nicely with salty bites.
Our tasting included 4 varietals of Gloria Ferrer wines:
- Sonoma Brut
- Blanc de Blancs
- Blanc de Noirs
- Rosé Brut
The Sonoma Brut is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. We tasted notes of pear and apple.
Blanc de Blancs is a sparkling wine made only from the Chardonnay grape. In Champagne, Blanc de Blancs is considered one of the most challenging varietals to make. In California, this wine is one of the most versatile sparkling wines due to the area’s acidity. Gloria Ferrer’s Blanc de Blancs is a blend of 9 base wines. We tasted notes of creamy pear, green apple and Meyer lemon.
Gloria Ferrer’s Rosé Brut is a beautiful color and made with a preponderance of Pinot Noir grapes blended with some Chardonnay grapes. We tasted berries and ginger.
The Blanc de Noirs is primarily made from Pinot Noir grapes, which give the wine a light rosé color. Vin Gris is then added to this lightly Pinot Noir tinted blend. This wine has strawberry and black cherry aromas.
We created a stunning backdrop behind our tablescape with Paperramma’s Tropical backdrop and rose gold Pop the Bubbly Instaballoons. We recommend assembling backdrop the day before the party. We also recommend a balloon pump to fill the balloons. We placed white tableware on neutral table linens. We added beautiful flutes and glasses from Snowfox. The Snowfox Carafe contained sparkling water so we could continue to pop the bubbly. Each guest received a pink chocolate lollipop favor.
Snowfox’s insulated stainless steel partyware are stylish, durable and keep beverages cold. We selected the white and rose collection, but the partyware is available in a variety of colors and shapes.
We also poured the wine into clear, stemless flutes so that our guests could see the color of the wines.
For our Pop the Bubbly dinner party, we kept the food easy and ordered an assortment of Thai favorites including:
- Spring Rolls
- Edememe
- Chicken and Shrimp Dumplings and Veggie Dumplings
- Coconut Shrimp
- Mango Salad
- Red Curry with Chicken
- Pad Thai with Tofu / Chicken / Shrimp
- Pineapple Fried Rice
- Eggplant Basil
We concluded the meal with a homemade mango panna cotta for dessert.
Farewell summer! We cant wait for an exciting Fall with Halloween, Diwali, Friendsgiving and Thanksgiving.
