This weekend we got to PLAY like a child and PARTY like a grownup! Club Getaway is an all-inclusive sleepaway camp for adults and families in Kent, Connecticut. This gorgeous place takes you back in time to your favorite childhood memories of water sports, color wars and campfires with s’mores—but with the added bonus of gourmet meals, late night dance parties and yummy cocktails. We highly recommend adding Club Getaway to your summer calendar.
Club Getaway is a beautiful outdoor paradise with gorgeous lakeside views in the Berkshire Mountains of Kent, Connecticut. Ivy, twinspirational’s favorite social university, organized a fabulous three-day weekend for 220 members and their guests. Our adventure began with a three-hour bus ride from Manhattan to Kent. We suggest leaving the city as early as possible to avoid summer Friday traffic.
Upon arrival, we were escorted by our Club Getaway counselors to our rustic cabins. After settling into our charming accommodations, we walked around the beautiful grounds, sipped on delicious welcome cocktails and nibbled on yummy hors d’oeuvres. Even the pickiest of eaters (both children and adults) can enjoy the impressive, diverse spread.
Afterwards, we enjoyed a family style meal with a twist. To mix things up, Ivy asked the guests to pull a table number out of a hat. This random table seating was an excellent way to make new friends. After dinner, we danced to a live band and finished our evening with late night karaoke. The twins along with their singer/song-writer friend, Mark, covered Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus.
The next morning, we sipped on mimosas and dined on a mix of bagels, pastries, eggs, bacon, fruit and omelettes. To work off the prior night’s indulgences, our good friend, Chris, taught a Shaun T Insanity class lakeside.
Our beautiful morning then turned into a rainy afternoon. We didn’t worry about the rain because the staff added some indoor activities, such as musical bingo, dance classes and arts & crafts. We worked up an appetite and headed over to a large lunch buffet. Lucky for us, the weather cleared up after our meal. We played color wars involving congo lines, inflatable horses, hula hoops and water balloons.
Archana played slip n’ slide kickball while Kanchana ziplined and mastered the rope course. We also played in the lake, slid down a giant water slide, swung on a giant swing and raced through a slip n’ slide. We also loved sipping on pina coladas while listening to The Pina Colada Song.
We attended another family style dinner, which was followed by a glow in the dark white party. Guests got creative decorating themselves with glow sticks and glow-in-the-dark paint. We roasted s’mores in the bonfire while listening to acoustic cover songs by our friend, Mark. The evening ended with a Veuve afterparty, and yes someone even created a Eiffel Veuve Tower.
On Sunday morning, we began our busy day with brunch, bootcamp, rock climbing and water skiing. Then we sipped some more cocktails and lounged by the lake, while other members played volleyball. We enjoyed our last communal meal and hopped on the bus back to the city.

“A lot of parents pack up their troubles and send them off to summer camp.”––Raymond Duncan
This looks like so much fun! I had no idea that ‘camp’ existed for adults! I genuinely thought it was just all for kids or teenagers. I would love something like this, if I’m perfectly honest.
OMG this looks like so much fun. I want to go to summer camp. You inspired me to research on some possible “adult” summer camps in my area.

Your writing was engaging and informative, and I appreciated the variety of camp options you shared. It’s great to know that adults can still enjoy the fun and benefits of camp life.
