Summer Camp is not just for kids! Earlier this month, we visited Club Getaway (“CG”), an all-inclusive camp for adults and families in Kent, Connecticut. CG combines your favorite childhood memories of water sports, color wars and campfires with s’mores with gourmet meals, late night dance parties and adult beverages. We highly recommend a weekend visit to Club Getaway this summer.
CG is a gorgeous lakeside paradise in the Berkshire Mountains of Kent, Connecticut. IVY organized a fabulous three-day weekend for 270 members and their guests. Our adventure began with a three-hour bus ride from Manhattan to Kent. We recommend leaving the city as early as possible to avoid summer traffic.
Upon arrival, we walked around the grounds and headed to our charming accommodations. We met up with the rest of the guests to sip on delicious welcome cocktails and nibble on yummy hors d’oeuvres. After cocktail hour, we enjoyed a family style meal with a twist. Guests pulled a table number out of a hat. This random table seating was an excellent way to make new friends.
After dinner, we attended to a luau where guests sported Hawaiian shirts, hula skirts and leis. Our friend, Mike Knuff, performed with his band Men or Myth. The band covered a mix of 80s, 90s, 00s and contemporary favorites.
After the luau, we headed to late night karaoke. After a few glasses of beer or wine, everyone sounds like Whitney Houston (or maybe not).
The next morning, we sipped on mimosas and dined on a mix of bagels, pastries, eggs, bacon, fruit and omelettes. To work off the prior night’s indulgences, our good friend, Chris, taught a Shaun T Insanity class lakeside.
After our hearty breakfasts, we spent the rest of the morning conquering the activities in the Adventure Park. We started with the giant swing. This was a team activity, where other guests used their strength to hoist us into the air.
Next, we challenged each other through thrilling Geronimo. We climbed 40 feet to the treetop platform and bungee jumped. The final jump was intimidating, but we both jumped. Afterwards, we mastered the intermediate rope course in the Aerial Park, while other guests played gladiator and water skied.
We enjoyed a delicious family style lunch, followed by color wars and slip n’ slide kickball. We also played in the lake, slid down a giant water slide and raced through a slip n’ slide. We ended the day sitting by the lake and enjoying the beautiful weather.
We were asked to dress in white for our second family style dinner.
Twinspirational tried to squeeze everyone into one giant group shot inside the tent.
After dinner we attended a glow in the dark white party. Guests decorated themselves with glow sticks and glow-in-the-dark paint. We ended the evening roasting s’mores while listening to an acoustic performance by our friend, Mark Radcliffe.
On Sunday morning, we began our busy day with brunch, bootcamp and water skiing. We lounged by the lake, while other members played archery. We enjoyed our last communal meal and hopped on the bus back to the city. We had an amazing time at our second adult summer camp. You can find our first adventure at Club Getaway here.

This is the coolest thing I have ever seen. I never went to camp as a kid, I’d love to try it now!

I would SO GO to this camp! It looks really cool and there are so many activities!
Whoa! I kinda miss hanging out in big groups because it has been over 18 months now since I’ve been to one. Hopefully, soon.
This sounds fun. I miss attending camps and I agree with you that summer camps are not just for kids. Hope to join in the future.
Wow! This looks so much fun!
Oh wow! What a fun camp! The last time I went on a summer camping event was waaaaaaaay back when I was in grade school. I’d love to go to camp without counselors. HAHA.
