If you have a lesson scheduled at Deer Valley Resort, arrive early and ready. Even advanced skiers benefit from refining technique early in a trip. If you skip the lesson, get out as early as possible. Snow is always best first thing in the morning. Corduroy is crisp, legs are fresh, and the mountain feels quiet and expansive. First tracks are one of the greatest pleasures when you ski at Deer Valley.



Stop for lunch at Silver Lake Lodge, perfectly positioned mid-mountain so you can refuel without losing momentum. Inside you’ll find several food stations, including a grill, soup and chili bar, fresh salads, and rotating hot entrées. Pair your meal with an Aperol Spritz, and for some playful fun with friends, grab a shot ski for a slope-side toast before heading back out.


Spend the afternoon skiing Bald Mountain and Little Baldy Peak, two standout areas when you ski at Deer Valley. The turkey and cranberry panini is a must—warm, savory, and slightly sweet, it somehow tastes even better after a few hours skiing at Deer Valley. If you want something heartier, the turkey chili is another favorite, rich, warming, and packed with flavor. Pair your meal with a cold beer to make the most of your mid-day break. After lunch, take some time to explore the Flagstaff Mountain area. The terrain here offers scenic cruisers and stunning views, making the afternoon feel both relaxed and rewarding.


That evening, step off the mountain and take a taxi to Wanship for a distillery tour and dinner at High West Distillery & Saloon. The guided tour walks you through the distilling process and the history behind one of Utah’s most celebrated whiskey makers. You’ll see the barrels, learn how their blends come together, and finish with a tasting. We tried the $25 whiskey tasting flight, which is surprisingly affordable and a great way to sample several of their signature pours while learning the differences in flavor and finish.


Dinner follows in the saloon at High West Distillery & Saloon, where the Winter Dinner Series buffet includes a welcome cocktail, chef stations, and live music — all part of the $85 per adult experience ($50 for kids under 12). These dinners are available on select Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings.

Globes can be reserved for small groups and typically cost around $150–$200 depending on the time. Start with an Aperol Spritz while you take in the view. Then order the lobster cream and the grilled cheese with tomato soup. It is a simple combination, but one we order every time we ski at Deer Valley.


After lunch, head back to Trail’s End Lodge to grab your luggage and wrap up your stay. From there, make the easy 45-minute drive to Salt Lake City International Airport. It is one of the rare ski destinations where the airport is close enough that you can truly ski the morning and still catch an evening flight.
