We celebrated a New Year’s Day brunch and our birthday dinner in the Cellar Room.

Black Barn Restaurant: What to Order to Drink?
Tis the season to be tipsy. We kicked off our meal at Black Barn Restaurant with a round of cocktails: including The First Snow, Stable Boy, Nomad Nightcap and the Farmhouse Orchards. Our favorite was the First Snow, which has gin, rosemary, lemon, egg white and absinthe. It was quite festive.
If you like passionfruit, go with the Stable Boy. This cocktail also a spicy tequila-mezcal blend, lime and agave.
Call me old fashioned. If you are more of a bourbon person, you’ll love the Nomad Nightcap.
It rums in the family. For the rum lovers, we recommend the Farmhouse Orchards. Definitely pop by for the happy hour specials at Black Barn Restaurant with cocktails for $12, house wine for $9 and draft beer for $7.
Black Barn Restaurant: What to Order for Dinner?
Grab life by the meatballs. We enjoyed our meal at Black Barn Restaurant family style, so everyone got to try a little bit of a lot of dishes. Our favorite appetizer of the evening was the Lamb Kofta, which was served with spiced labneh ajvar and wild za’atar. If you like lamb, you need to order this dish.
I’m just too tenta-cool for you. If you like seafood, you’ll love the Olive Oil Braised Octopus. This dish is served with roasted pepper hummus, fresno chili, fennel, preserved lemon-olive gremolata. This hummus was quite tasty too.
Foie gras is always best de-livered. We don’t east foie gras often, but this Foie Gras Terrine is a bite of heaven. Small appetizer but packs a punch of flavor. This dish is served with quince gelée, celery and brioche.
I have so mushroom for you in my heart. The Mushroom Toast was quite flavorful with robiola, taleggio, parmesan and purple watercress on sourdough toast.
Slice, slice baby. The Confit Pear White Pizza was a slice of pizza heaven. This pizza has hazelnut oil, arugula, gorgonzola, fontina and spicy coppa.
Shuck them all. The Live Scallop Crudo was delicious too. It is served with cucumber, granny smith apple, radish, finger lime and ver jus.
Catch fish, not feelings. The Grilled Branzino for Two was our favorite entree at Black Barn Restaurant. The fish was grilled to perfection and served with carrots, potatoes and grilled lemon. Our server brought the whole fish to the table. Just look at how beautiful this branzino is.
Hooked on you. Fortunately for us, they filleted the fish for us.
Scallops never share. They are shellfish. Our second favorite entree was the Pan Seared Diver Scallops. This dish is served with preserved tomato risotto, caramelized fennel, basil oil and crispy garlic. They risotto was rich, creamy and really good.
For the chicken lover, The Grilled Amish Chicken is the dish for you. This entree was roasted to perfection and served with persimmon and prune bread pudding, grilled broccolini and mushroom veloute.
The ribs meating expectations. Our friends enjoyed the Eight-Hour BBQ Beef Ribs, served with chipotle-orange rub, shoestring fries and cucumber salad.
Rooting for you. If you are a vegetarian or just want to add some veggies to the meal, we recommend the Spiced Roasted Autumn Vegetables. This dish has celeriac-parsnip and apple purée, quinoa, red grapes, marcona almonds and papadum chips.
I don’t care what the problem is. Dessert is the answer. We were quite full after devouring the entrees, but then the desserts arrived. Isn’t there a separate compartment for dessert? We ordered the Rum Butterscotch Bread Pudding with vanilla ice cream, Apple Cider Doughnuts with caramel sauce and the Chocolate Bavarois. Our favorite was the bread pudding. You have to order this dessert- it’s unbelievable. We thought the donuts were going to be our favorite, and they were a close second.
