Rooftop season is synonymous with Summer in New York City. Who wouldn’t love sipping a glass of Rosé while enjoying specular views of the NYC? We recently visited Elsie Rooftop, which is inspired by twentieth century American socialite, Elsie de Wolfe. We are excited to share our rooftop evening with you.
Elsie Rooftop is nestled between Midtown South and the Garment District and perched up 25 stories high on 1412 Broadway. This lavish rooftop is open all-season with chic seating options indoor and outdoor. The space features high ceilings, antique mirrors, gold metal walls and a beautiful blue marble bar top.
The rooftop has a delectable, upscale seasonal menu of American bites.
Elsie is perfect for midtown happy hours. Guests can have their choice of sunny and shaded seating areas.
Since it’s Rosé season, we started our happy hour with a blush wine.
Elsie’s food menu is light American fare, so think shared appetizers and tapas style verses a full dinner meal. We started our meal with colorful corn chips and spicy Guacamole.
Our favorite dish was the Bluefin Tuna Tartar. This tartare was made with sesame, soy citrus mojo and fresh herb. It paired well with the chips and guac (we recommend eating them together).
We love anything with truffle, so our last dish was the Truffle Grilled Cheese. This is no ordinary grilled cheese. It’s made with fontina, shaved black truffles and brioche.
We concluded our meal with a chocolate lava cake with ice cream. So raise a glass and toast summer in NYC at Elsie Rooftop. If you live or work in midtown, we highly recommend a happy hour here.
Be pretty if you can, be witty if you must, but be gracious if it kills you. – Elsie de Wolfe
