Greece the wheels. Santorini lies in the Aegean Sea, roughly halfway between Athens and Crete. To get to this iconic island, we hopped on Emirates‘ new nonstop flight from Newark to Athens. After a quick overnight stay at the Sofitel near the airport, we took a 30-minute flight with Aegean Airlines to Santorini and headed to our Santorini resort. You could also take a 5+ hour ferry, but trust us, the flight is the way to go – unless you fancy a little sea adventure with unexpected delays!
Santorini Guide to the Best Time to Visit: Seize the Sun or Steal the Savings?
Santorini, where every view is ‘Greek-tacular. Don’t let your plans get off-balance—timing is everything when planning your Santorini adventure! High season, from late June to early September, brings perfect beach weather, exciting nightlife, and easy island hopping. But if you’re aiming for the sweet spot, consider visiting in late May to early June or late September to early October. This way, you’ll enjoy sunny skies, stunning views, and fabulous wine tastings, all without the summer crowds. Just keep in mind, swimming might be a bit brisk.
What Athens in Santorini, stays in Santorini. Off-peak season (October to May) offers cost-effective hotels and fewer tourists, but be prepared for cooler weather, gray skies, and occasional rain. Many hotels and restaurants close for the winter, but you should be able to find accommodations in Fira. Also book your ferries and flights in advance. Food, beverages and transportation costs stay consistent throughout the year.

From the website pictures, it appears to be a limited view because of a large building wall to the left, with other buildings to the right, and the other residences and church below. Is there a "narrow view" or a more panoramic view? Thanks!
Hi! We had great views from our balcony. The pictures in the hotel section of our blog post were taken on our balcony. We would recommend centering yourself near the church and you won't see the large buildings on the side.
