Drink up, grinches! We created a wine-derful cocktail party filled with delicious bites, Cornerstone Cellars vino and ugly sweaters. We are excited share “the most wine-derful time of the year” with you.
It’s the Most Wine-derful Time of the Year
Our theme for the evening combined “it’s the most wonderful time of the year” with wine and ugly sweaters. Guests donned their best ugly sweaters of festive pugs, reindeer and snowmen. Yes, there were even some light up sweaters. Anything goes at an ugly sweater party- the uglier the better.
Deck The Halls with Wine-derful Tabletops
We created our festive tablescape with holiday reds, metallic silvers and snow whites. Our backdrop featured a sparkly silver fringe curtain from Decorative Novelty. We layered Sparkle N Shine’s sparkly handmade banner to remind guests that “it’s the most wine-derful time of the year.” We completed the backdrop with chic red and/or white paper snowflakes by Devra Party. We dressed the table with Williams Sonoma’s adorable Snowman linens, which were pressed by a Jiffy Steamer. Patrick of International Garden created our beautiful floral arrangement with white roses, leaves, eucalyptus and hypericum We also added a Christmas tree shaped cheese plate.
Wine-derful Bar
The guests weren’t the only ones decked out in holiday spirit. We dressed the wine with adorable holiday wine toppers from Pottery Barn. We served 4 varieties of Cornerstone Wine:
- 2017 Sonoma Sauvignon Blanc
- 2016 Sta Rita Hills Pinot Noir
- 2015 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Benchlands
- 2015 Calistoga Cabernet Sauvignon
You Had Me at Sauv Blanc
We served the Sauvignon Blanc as the welcome drink. We poured a dozen glasses and placed them on Beatriz Ball’s chic sterling silver tray. We chilled the remaining bottles of Sauvignon Blanc in Beatriz Ball’s matching ice bucket .
A Pinot in a Pear Tree
Next guests sipped on the Sta Rita Hills Pinot Noir. This light and fruity red was our favorite of the evening. Remember that wine is personal, and that your favorite may be very different than others in your party.
Sleigh All day Then Cabernet
We sipped on two varietals of Cabernet Cabs are more full bodied reds in comparison to a Pinot Noir. We recommend decanting cabs so they open up. They paired perfectly with our dinner entrees.
We Whisk You a Merry Christmas
Cooking for 30 guests can be daunting. We kept it simple and ordered dinner from Giorgio’s of Gramercy. They have several scrumptious catering packages. We ordered two varieties of the CEO package which included bread, a salad, pasta, two entrees, and mini cookies. They also bring chafing dishes to keep your food warm (but we opted to warm food in the oven).
Be Ugly
Guests wore lots of holiday sweaters. Remember the uglier the sweater, the merrier the holiday.
Take an Elfie
Our sparkly backdrop doubled as a photobooth backdrop, where guests took lots of elfies. We had lots of ugly sweater props as well as naughty or nice hats for guests to take pictures with.
Special thanks to our guests and partners: Cornerstone Cellars, Giorgios of Gramercy, Instaballoons, Devra Party, Sparkle N Shine and Beatriz Ball for helping us create a wine-derful evening. We hope this post puts a spell on you and now you’re wine.
