Maison Marcel, you are so bottleful to me! Are you still in self-quarantine? If so, you probably can’t visit your local bar or winery. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t try new wines or sip on old favorites. We partnered with Maison Marcel on a virtual wine tasting to add a little sparkle and vino to our quarantine. Our first virtual wine tasting was a hit and we are excited to share it with you.
Wine tastings are a great way to bring friends together. We hosted a blind French wine tasting, a popcorn and wine tasting and a chocolate, cheese and wine tasting. This week, we made our wine tasting virtual. We sent our guests a Zoom link and gave them wine and cheese recommendations.
What Wines to Order?
We partnered with Maison Marcel and selected three varietals:
- Sparkling Rosé – Refreshing and balanced wine with vibrant notes of white peach and lychee. The wine is crisp and refreshing and perfect for the Holidays or any celebration
- Still Rosé – Off-dry rosé wine made from a family recipe. The wine delivers a crisp and well balanced taste profile. The wine has notes of peach and subtle aromas of lychee and elderflower
- French Velvet (Red Blend) – Medium bodied, jammy wine with flavors of ripe plum and cherry and a slight spice on the finish
How to Decorate?
We dressed the table with a rose gold sequin tablecloth and a bouquet of soft pink peonies and eucalyptus.
How to Pair Wines with Cheese?
We paired our quaran-wines with Gorgonzola Dolce, Aged Gruyere and Brie. To create the perfect cheese board, incorporate a variety of color, texture and flavor profile. Start with the cheese, add French bread and crackers, and use strawberries and blueberries for pops of color. Next, we sprinkled walnuts and rosé infused gummy bears. Lastly, add the cheese knives.
How to Setup Each Place Setting?
First, we made pour decisions. We poured the sparkling Rosé into our champagne flutes.
We recommend starting with the bubbly and finishing with the Red Velvet.
Next, place the 3 tasting pours and individual cheese boards at each place setting. We paired the sparkling Rosé with the Gorgonzola Dolce, the still Rosé with the Aged Gruyere and the French Velvet with the Brie.
Ask Your Guests to Participate
Our friends Nikki and Noah set up their own Maison Marcel spread.
What Desserts Pair with Wine?
No tasting is complete without a bite of sweetness. We ended our virtual wine tasting with a strawberry mousse cake. This pink and airy mousse was delicate and light, which paired nicely with the still Rosé.
