Happy Father’s Day to our dad and all the fathers out there. We celebrated Father’s Day at Junoon, one of our favorite Indian restaurants. The food, ambiance and staff is wonderful, and we highly recommend it. We are excited to share our Father’s Day with you.
We started our celebration with some pre-dinner Whispering Angel, one of our favorite Rosé wines.
After our Whispering Angel, we headed to Junoon. This restaurant is located in the Chelsea / Flatiron neighborhood and offers Indian fine dining at its best. Junoon means passion in Hindi. Our first visit to Junoon was for our 30th birthday. We even came back for a twin birthday dinner two years ago.
Guests can dine in the main dining room or the Patiala Room. In the main dining room, diners can select a three-course meal for $75 per person including an appetizer, entree and dessert. Children under thirteen are not allowed in the Main Dining Room. The Patiala room is a less formal dining experience and guests can order a la carte.
We started our meal with a glass of champagne. We wanted to raise a glass not only for our dad, but also for our dear Uncle Sudershan. This is our first Father’s Day without our Uncle. We wish he could have been with us, but we know that he’s watching from above.
For appetizers, we chose the ghost chili murgha tikka, a spicy chicken dish flavored with a mix of spice and heat. We loved it. We also ordered the special halibut. For entrees, we shared the lamb chops with sweet potato puree, charred pineapple and the murgh lababdar with tandoor grilled chicken, tomato sauce, fenugreek.
For dessert, we ordered the Drunken Shahi Tukra, a saffron cake with Amrut rum and cardamom. The restaurant also sent us a special dessert with Happy Father’s Day.
Special thanks to our amazing dad and the wonderful staff at Junoon.
“Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad, and that’s why I call you dad, because you are so special to me. You taught me the game and you taught me how to play it right.” – Wade Boggs
