You really autumn know… Fall is our favorite season. We can enjoy the cooler temperatures, the changing leaves and the seasonal fruits and vegetables in NYC. We dined at Scarpetta a few weeks ago, and were excited about their fall update. Scarpetta transformed from a pink oasis into a gourdgeous fall haven. We are excited to share a beautiful place to eat in NYC this fall with you.
Beautiful Places to Eat in NYC This Fall in Nomad
Scarpetta is located in the James Hotel in NoMad. At the entrance is a stunning backdrop with ivory, marigold and tan florals wrapped with green ivy and brown branches. This bustling city street along Madison Avenue was transformed into a beautiful mini garden with heat lamps, luscious autumn greenery and twinkling lights. Scarpetta is open for dinner from 5PM to 9:30PM on weekdays and 4PM to 9:30PM on weekends.
What to Order to Drink?
Alcohol you later. We started with Aperitivo, which is a drink to whet your appetite before dinner. Our cocktails included: La Dolce Vita, Purchase Parlor and Ascoltami.
Time flies when you’re having rum. Our favorite was the Purchase Parlor. This rum cocktail has fruity pineapple flavors. Our round of drinks was the perfect way to kickoff our dinner.
Be there in a Prosecco. If you like sparkling cocktails, we recommend La Dolce Vita.
We recommend a Barbera d’Asti to pair with the pasta course.
What to Order for Dinner?
Happy as a clam. We recommend starting with a mix of Crudi (uncooked) bites. The Yellowtail, Razor Clams and Faroe Island Salmon are great small plates for the table to share. Our favorite was the Razor Clams, which were served with pink peppercorns and lemon.
Next we ordered a mix of Primi Piatti and Verdure (vegetables) including: Stracciatella, Polenta and Roasted Mushrooms. The Stracciatella is the creamy, buttery center of Burrata, which is one of our favorite cheeses.
Our favorite was the polenta. It was rich and creamy and served with a fricassée of truffled mushroom. You can never have too many mushrooms. Shiitake happens!
You can’t cut carbs at Scarpetta. You have to get the pasta. We ordered the Spaghetti, Doppio and Squid Ink Pasta with Seafood. Our favorite was the Spaghetti. Yes, it just has tomato and basil, but it’s really quite amazing. If you only get one pasta, get this one.
A ready-to-eat slice of heaven. We concluded our meal with a mix of fruit and chocolate desserts: Ricotta Cheesecake, Apple Pudding and Espresso Budino. Our favorite is the cheesecake with is paired with apricot compote, black mission figs, pomegranate sorbet.
This fall, come to Scarpetta and dine in the heated outdoor garden. Trust us, you’ll love the food, decor and ambiance. It’s also a great way to catch up with a friend outdoors, while keeping social distancing guidelines in mind. You can also read about 15 of the best places for outdoor dining in NYC.
