Tis the season to get tipsy! This year, we partnered with Flora Springs on a wine-derful Christmas dinner. Flora Springs creates a whimsical collection of Holiday wines every year. With a creamy Chardonnay and several bold reds, these wines are the perfect accompaniment to your holiday meal. We are excited to help you make some pour decisions with Flora Springs Holiday Wines.
Flora Springs Holiday Wines
John and Carrie Komes and Julie and Pat Garvey founded Flora Springs in 1978. John and Julie named the winery after their mother, Flora Komes, and the natural springs that run through the property. This family owned vineyard began producing wine since 1979. The vineyard’s limited-edition Holiday Wines are one of its most treasured traditions. The festive artwork and etched bottles are perfect for your holiday tables.
How to Style a Holiday Dinner Party?
We change up our color palette for holiday dinners. Last week, we styled a Pinkmas. This week, we selected a chic gold, white, red and green color scheme. We decorated our table with a gold petal taffeta tablecloth and a white faux fur table runner. Each place setting included a gold charger plate, a green plate, green satin napkins tucked inside a napkin ring and custom wine glass. We also created custom holiday themed coasters and wine glasses with our Cricut Joy!
Our beautiful Christmas centerpiece featured Flora Springs wines with festive wine toppers. The centerpiece also included two metallic Christmas trees, two floral arrangements and two gold Luxe Crystal Candle Holders. We also added a pine garland and scattered pine cones, holly and ornaments on the table runner.
We also placed small bouquets of vibrant red and yellow roses on each side of the wine.
Which Flora Springs Holiday Wines to Serve?
I’m dreaming of a wine Christmas! During dinner, we sampled 3 Flora Springs wine: 2017 Dashaway Chardonnay, 2016 We Believe Red Blend and 2017 Holiday Red Blend.
Dashaway with Chardonnay
We started with the 2017 Dashaway Chardonnay. This charmingly-illustrated label features reindeer flying over Flora Springs’ Napa Valley vineyards on Christmas Eve. This full-bodied wine is rich and creamy with notes of juicy nectarine and apple. This Chardonnay is a perfect “winter white,” that pairs well with smoked salmon or trout, saffron-infused risotto or roasted chicken.
Joy to the World the Wine is Poured
Next, we sampled the 2017 Holiday Red Blend. The Joyful Skater is a beautiful etched and hand-painted bottle that depicts Flora on skates. You can see the entire process of etching and hand painting these bottles in this video. This blend combines Bordeaux varietals from the estate vineyards in St. Helena, Rutherford and Oakville. The wine has flavors of blackberries, purple plums and ripe blueberries. The full-bodied wine has elegant tannins that provide balance and length. The wine pairs well with pork, beef tenderloin, smoked beef brisket or a cheesy baked lasagne.
We paired the Red blend with The Food Crate’s Spaghetti with Gluten Free Chicken Fontina Florentine Meatballs.
We Believe in a Wine-derful Life
Our last wine was the 2016 We Believe Red Blend. The We Believe wines feature playful labels with some traditional holiday characters. This plush red wine has notes of bright cherry, cranberry, black raspberry and cassis. The full bodied wine has smooth tannins. This wine pairs well with turkey with all the trimmings, prime rib roast and even pumpkin pie.
We paired the We Believe with a caramel bourbon pecan tart from the Food Crate.

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas, but if the white runs out, I’ll drink the red.
