Are you looking for the best Supper East Side? If so, then you have to dine at Chef David Burke’s flagship namesake restaurant David Burke Tavern (DB Tavern). The food, ambiance and service is impeccable. We are excited to share our dining experience at David Burke Tavern, one of the best restaurants on the Upper East Side.
Best Restaurants on the Upper East Side
We recently dined at Chef David Burke’s restaurants Woodpecker, Mister French and Son Cubano and we were excited to visit DB Tavern. David Burke Tavern is a modern American restaurant in New York City. The restaurant is located inside a beautiful Upper East Side townhouse. DB Tavern is open Wednesday to Saturday from 4:00PM to 9:00PM with Happy Hour from 4:00PM to 7:00PM and Sunday from 11:00AM to 8:00PM. Brunch is available on Sundays from 11:00AM to 4:00PM and happy hour is all day.
DB Tavern has seating indoors and outdoors. We sat outdoors. The tables are over six feet apart and the tables have the most adorable tableware. There are also jumbo penguins at various empty tables to help guests with social distancing.
What to Order to Drink?
Fizz the season. We started our meal with a glass of champagne. DB Tavern is a great location to celebrate a milestone birthday. The restaurant has a Christmas Pre-Fix for $89 or Christmas to go package for $450 – $550 serving 8 – 10 people.
You had me at Bordeaux. We ordered a glassed of Pinot Noir to go with our entrees, while our friend ordered a glass of Bordeaux. If you like fruit, lighter reds, go with the Pinot. If you like a more full bodied, heavier wine, we recommend the Bordeaux.
What to Order for Dinner?
The appetizers were clawesome. We shared the Crab Cake Pretzel Raft, Tuna Crudo and Lobster Dumplings. Our favorite was the dumplings. Still dreaming about the miso tomato vinaigrette that comes with the dumplings.
We also shared the Scallops, the Branzino and the Lamb Chops. The Scallops were served on top of a creamy celery root puree. The Branzino was perfectly cooked with a rich, artichoke puree. Lamb is our favorite protein, and lamb chops are our favorite cut. So our favorite entree was the Lamb Chops. That was a special, so if it’s on the menu, definitely order it. We also recommend a side of the roasted brussels sprouts.
Sweet dreams are made of cheese(cake). We concluded our meal with desserts that looked like a work of art. The Cheesecake Lollipop Tree featured mini cheesecakes covered with toppings on lollipop sticks. This was our favorite. We also ordered the Apple Pie with Salted Caramel Ice Cream and Chocolate Crunch Cake.
