Calling all reindeer! This winter, New Yorkers can sleigh all day at SERRA Alpina. SERRA by Birreria, Eataly’s rooftop in the Flatiron District, has transformed into a rustic, alpine wonderland. This picture perfect, winter oasis is inspired by the Italian Alps. Serra Alpina is snow joke and and brunch was snow much fun.
Eataly Flatiron celebrates the change in weather by adorning its rooftop with chic, seasonal decor. We saw Eataly transform into a pink paradise in the Spring (SERRA Fiorita) and a color-fall sanctuary in the Fall (SERRA d’Autunno). This season, the rooftop transports you to a “winter greenhouse” in the Italian mountains with its snow-capped trees and branches and twinkling lights.
The restaurant’s winter menu features seasonal Italian plates with truffles, winter squash and celery root. Executive Chef, Tom Bohan, sources ingredients from artisan Italian producers and local U.S. farms.
Eataly’s beverage menu features a number of winter wines and cocktails, including Vin Brulé (a traditional Italian spiced wine), Stella Alpina (a spiced Moscato d’Asti) and a Truffletini (cocktail with white truffle-infused vodka). You can also build your own apple cider and order your drink hot, cold, spiced or spiked with Bourbon, Brandy or Hazelnut Liqueur. We began our meal with a refreshing Prosecco.
We visited SERRA Alpina during Restaurant Fest. From November 1-17, the restaurant offered a special two-course prix-fixe menu for lunch and dinner.
We started with the comforting Fonduta Valdostana, an Italian-style fondue prepared with Fontina, fingerling potatoes, otto bread, root vegetables. We also shared the Insalata Toscana with kale and pecorino crisps.
Our Primi included the Squash, a Honeynut Squash filled with creamy Stracciatella, and the Pesce, a fresh Monkfish with black lentils. We paired our courses with a medium-bodied Barbera.
For dessert, we shared the rich, cream filled profiteroles.
We highly recommend a visit to Serra Alpina before it transforms into its Spring/Summer rendition.
Winter, a lingering season, is a time to gather golden moments, embark upon a sentimental journey, and enjoy every idle hour.

I have never seen a restaurant quite like this before. The pictures are amazing!
The restaurant is so beautiful, they made an amazing job decorating it for the winter holidays. The menu sounds very appetising as well. You don’t really find fontina cheese that easy outside Italy.
