Go ahead, cake my day! Our 30th birthday party inspired the Twinspirational blog. When we turned 40, we wanted to host a birthday party that paid homage to our 30th white party. We dined at Claudette near Washington Square Park with some of the best group dining in Greenwich Village. Their Flamingo Room offers gorgeous and the perfect spot for a private dinner. We are excited to share our birthday dinner at Claudette with you.
Best Group Dining in NYC
Every year, we host a big party and a birthday dinner. This year, we replaced the birthday party with a birthday Napa trip. We also wanted to celebrate with our friends in NYC. It’s not easy to find great spots for group dining in NYC, but lucky for you, we have pulled together some of our favorite restaurants.
Best Group Dining in Greenwich Village
We dined at Claudette last fall and fell in love with their food, ambiance and service. When we heard about their Flamingo Room, we knew this would make for some of the best group dining in Greenwich Village. Claudette combines French and North African Cuisine. There’s nothing quite like Claudette in NYC. We are excited to share the best group dining in Greenwich Village with you.

Claudette is located in Greenwich Village on 10th Street and 5th Ave. Claudette is part of Casa Nela, a New York City hospitality company founded by Carlos Suarez. We visited its sister restaurant, Rosemary’s in the West Village, Rosemary’s in StuyTown and Roey’s in the West Village. Claudette is open for dinner from 4PM to 10PM on weekdays and 5PM to 10PM on weekends. Brunch is available from 10AM to 4PM on the weekends.

The Flamingo Room is located downstairs. You’ll be escorted through the kitchen into the private room. This room accommodates up to 20 seated at the dining table or 40 standing. We recommend some flowers or coral rose petals to add a pop to the crisp white linens.

There is also a lounge, private bar and private restroom. The lounge features a gorgeous pink flamingo mural. The lounge is adjacent to the bar, and serves as a great spot to wait for guests to arrive. The Flamingo Room has a $3,000 minimum plus tax, gratuity and a 5% admin fee. Prices start at $65 per person for family style and $85 per person for individually plated courses.

Claudette printed custom birthday menus for each place setting.

Best Group Dining in Greenwich Village: What to Order to Drink?
Claudette offers a $10 optional sparkling toast and open bar packages by the hour. Our friend Scott couldn’t make it in person, but sent over a champagne toast. The Henriot Brut Champagne is an excellent way to start group dining in Greenwich Village.

Sip me baby one more wine. We also ordered bottles of Blanc de Blanc, Rosé, Sauvignon Blanc and Malbec for the table.

Best Group Dining in Greenwich Village: Pre-Fix Menu Ideas
Awe shucks. Claudette has some of the best oysters in the city. We highly recommend starting with Fruit de Mer. It’s a $5 supplement to the pre-fix menus, but so worth it. One of our friend that isn’t a fan of oysters even loved them.

Yogurta be kidding me. Our appetizers included the Lamb Kefta with a yogurt and ginger dipping sauce. The lamb was flavorful and grilled to perfection. We highly recommend you order this dish. Trust us, you won’t regret it.

Turn up the beet. If you are looking for something fresh to add to your dinner menu, then consider ordering the beet salad. The horseradish yogurt balanced the sweetness of the roasted beets.

I’m sorry I falafel. If you like sweet potatoes then try the falafel. The house made harissa and pickled chilies add a nice kick to the dish.

A tale of two tagines. Our favorite main was the Lamb Tagine. We enjoyed this dish at our last visit and wanted our friends to enjoy it. The sweetness of the strawberry & rhubarb chutney cut the fattiness of the lamb.

You’re pasta-tively amazing. The cavatelli was also quite delicious with the creamy sauce and homemade pasta.

I’m hooked on you. We also got the Black Bass. The olive oil, lemon, tomato and basil sauce added a nice flavor to the fish.

Living the sweet life. We finished up our meal with Creme au Citron with lemon curd, blood orange and hazelnut as well as Gateau au Chocolate, a chocolate cake with mixed berries. These were the perfect way to end the evening.

This year, dine at Claudette for a the best group dining in Greenwich Village. Claudette is also a Founding Member of Safe Eats, a restaurant association created to provide both restaurants and their guests with clarity about staying safe when dining out. You can also check out our Outdoor Dining section for more recommendations. We also have a piece coming up about the best group dining in NYC.
