Walking in a Watermark Winter Wonderland. We’ve written about a number of winter rooftops in NYC, but another cold weather alternative is a private heated greenhouse. Battery Park City is home to some of the best Downtown NYC restaurants, and Watermark is no exception. With twinkling lights, festive decor and gorgeous views of the East River, Watermark is the perfect place to enjoy a dinner during the winter in NYC. Watermark has transformed their outdoor patio into a stunning Winter Wonderland. We had a wonderful time dining at Watermark Winter Wonderland and we know you will too.
Best Downtown NYC Restaurants: Watermark
There’s snow way out of winter. Watermark is a beautiful waterfront restaurant in the South Street Seaport in Battery Park. The restaurant is located at Pier 15 in Downtown NYC with stunning views of the Brooklyn and Williamsburg bridges and the Brooklyn skyline. This restaurant is part of Merchants Hospitality Property, a hospitality group founded by Abraham Merchant. We visited multiple sister restaurants Ophelia, Merchants River House, Merchants Cigar Bar and Merchants NY.
Watermark is open daily on Monday to Wednesday from 4PM to 11PM, Thursday from 4PM to 12AM, Friday from 2PM to 12AM, Saturday from 12PM to 12AM and Sunday from 12PM to 11PM. Happy Hour is Monday to Thursday from 4PM to 5PM and Friday from 2PM to 3PM. Watermark Winter Wonderland features private heated greenhouses that are a perfect way to escape the cold NYC winters. There are also gorgeous trees with twinkling lights and even a sleigh. Watermark hosts live concerts and festivals in the summer. This venue can also accommodate private and corporate events up to 1200 guests within the indoor and outdoor areas.
Watermark Winter Wonderland: What to Order to Drink?
I love it when you call me Margarita. Watermark Winter Wonderland has an assortment of holiday and warm cocktails, such as the Ornamentini, Hot Chocolate or Hot Cider. We stuck to the classics and ordered Passion Fruit and Mango Margaritas as well as the Blackberry Bite. Our favorite was the Blackberry Bite with Bombay blackberry gin, Edinburgh Rhubarb & Ginger, lemon and honey. You can order any cocktail by the glass or as a carafe for 6.
Today’s forecast partly cloudy with 100% chance of wine. We also ordered Pinot Noir and Rioja to go with our second course. The world looks better through rosé colored glasses. We paired dessert with a Gerard Bertrand Cremant Rosé.
Watermark Winter Wonderland: What to Order for Dinner?
I’m so fondue of you. We ordered a mix of appetizers from the For the Table section of the menu. We started with the Cheese Fondue for 2 with Swiss, sharp cheddar, Gruyère, Parmesan, white wine, broccoli florets, pear chunks, pretzel bites and grilled bratwurst.
Time to pretzelebrate. The pretzel bites were quite unique and paired nicely with the fondue. You can order for 2 or 4, but the 2 person is quite large and can accommodate 3-4 people.
We dance to a different tuna. Next we tried the Spicy Yellowfin Tuna Tartare, with Sriracha mayo, micro cilantro, caviar and a crispy rice cake. It was small, but a bite of tuna heaven.
I’m so eggcited. We also ordered the Deviled Eggs that are topped with black and red caviar. These are must order! One of the best deviled eggs in NYC.
Don’t buy foie gras when you go shopping! It’s always best de-livered. We also ordered the rich, buttery Foie Gras with brandied cherries, figs, jam and toast.
Keep it shrimple. The Crispy Coconut Shrimp with sweet chili sauce was one of our favorites.
What’s crackin. We also ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese. It was yummy, but we recommend picking either the fondue or the Lobster Mac and Cheese, not both.
S’more money. S’more problems. We ended our meal with the S’mores Kit for 2. Like the Fondue, this Kit is available for 2 or 4. We got the Kit for 2, but it could serve 4 in our opinion.
Laugh S’more, worry less. We love making S’mores and usually make them on our ski trips. It was super fun to make them at dinner in NYC. This was the perfect way to end our meal at Watermark Winter Wonderland.
This winter head over to Watermark Winter Wonderland in Downtown NYC. This Battery Park restaurant on Manhattan’s iconic South Street Seaport has breathtaking views, private greenhouses, delicious bites and yummy cocktails. Make sure to order the Fondue and S’mores. New York gets god awful cold in the winter but there’s a feeling of wacky comradeship somewhere in the streets.
